    Oil lines to rad

Mark, Thanks for your input. I actually work for a rather large tube MFG...but to reverse engineer them would be a PITA. In addition, didn't think it would be that hard to re-install. Anyone know what the threads/type of the fittings? Still in the vehicle and haven't checked yet. Was pissed...

    Oil lines to rad

Hello, Been searching but not certain if I can buy or make these lines. Part number is 14061345 or the lower aluminum oil cooler tube that goes to the Rad, not block. Replaced the Rad and the bottom line would not break loose. Needless to say it twisted and NFG now.

C/K Radiator.. is there a difference???

1985 M1009 Rad Hello All, My rad just **** the bed this am. I checked out the one you called out. LT warranty, AL and pretty cheap. Is that a direct replacement for a stock M1009? All I really care about is all the correct ports. Hopefully, I can get all the additional fittings/lines out...

    Solenoid Assistance for M1009

When the temp light went on, I pulled over and let her cool down. Topped off the fluid and continued home, without the high temp light on. The light never came on again after it cooled down. It was pretty hot out and I was pushing her, hauling 2-3 yards of dirt at highway speeds. Continued...

    Solenoid Assistance for M1009

Thanks to all that offered help! If you couldn't tell already, I was never in the motor pool group, but do like to fix as much as possible myself. I understand that they are two different systems, but I guessed jumped the gun a little. When I noticed smoke coming from the GP resistor and the...

    Solenoid Assistance for M1009

Batteries, cables or starter. Nice tip. Batteries are good. Starter was replaced about 7 months ago. I will have to check the cables, but the smoke coming from the GP resistor is what is bothering me. I have a push button glow plug switch. Normally it makes a click when depressed. Now...

    Solenoid Assistance for M1009

Hello, I believe I have a solenoid issue. Truck ran fine yesterday. Went to start this am and no cranking or clicking whatsoever, but had power on the cluster ie gen lights. The one I took off the truck is a 9F3099. It's apparently from Caterpiller. Went down to NAPA and they gave me a...

Jumping another vehicle with a M1009

Hello all, Have to ask a dumb question. What is the proper way to jump start another vehicle with the 1009 with original wiring? I once hooked up the + to the strip or bus bar and - to alternator bracket. The system seem to be in series, to me, and was apprehensive to try via terminals...

    Injection pump replacement

The mechanic is excellent and has no problem with me buyin the parts. Just wanted to know if there is a specific part number for the one I have in the truck. I do not have the time or know who to fix it properly myself.

    Injection pump replacement

A local shop wants 800 to refurbish the pump. Not going to happen! Anyone have a good reliable source for one? I seen eBay has a few, but what one do I need for a 85 1009? I'm not nearly on the mechanical level as most here. Should have spent more time around the motor pool! Semper fi, Tommy

    Injection pump replacement

Happy Easter all, My pump is done. Should I replace anything else while its in the shop? Would it be a good time to replace injectors and glow plugs? Bought it with 22k and now has 47k. Lastly, where would be the best place to get parts? Thanks in advance!

    M1009 battery sparking on start

Another electrical issue. I just recently had gen 1 rebuilt. Things worked fine for a couple days. Yesterday, I tried to start it but was dead. Disconnected all cables, then charged both batteries. When I started to use the glow plugs, I noticed a spark on the back + terminal. Thought it...
