Thank you for updating the first post with a Q & A. Very informative. I will bring extra fuel for my generator so I will have electricity for the entire event. Have to have the A/C, satellite TV, microwave, and such. Don't want to get too primitive and uncivilized. The two vehicles I'm planning...
Jus did a little weight checking on my proposed load. The Bigfoot slide in camper comes in at a staggering 4,700 pounds wet! The trailer large enough to carry both the FC 150 and the Power Wagon weighs 5,200lbs (it's an equipment trailer). The FC 150 is going to tip the scales at close...
Hmmm, sunny Florida in February? Ok, I'm in provided the interstates through Montana and Wyoming aren't closed due to blizzard.
I will be arriving in my 2008 F-450 with a slide in camper in the back. Towing a trailer with my FC 150 on it. If the 53 Powerwagon gets done in time I will bring that...
Tell you what. In the space for your DOT number write "N/A". Mail it back and see what happens. Worst case scenario they mail it back to you as incomplete and you're out the price of a stamp.
You're welcome.
The low buck way to do this would be to get one of those 12 volt portable air compressors from Wal Mart. Simply cut off the air chuck, graft in some more hose with a glad hand. Run it out the back window to the trailer. Then whenever you want trailer brakes flip the switch and...
If mounting a pump is not an issue for you I'd go with the TRW hydraulic unit. While you're there see if you can find a hydraulic brake booster out of an International. Great units. Pull the pump and box. Get rid of your air over hydraulic brake set up. Big truck yards are fun.
Ok, here is what I came up with for a preliminary plan. This is going off the assumption that your trailer brakes require air to actuate, not air to release. Also since you want to keep the trailer original I came up with a plan that will allow your M1009 to have pressurized air to run the...
I got the same pop up. I just clicked ok. Figured that since it's a gov site and I'm on an unsecured computer there might be an issue. Was able to view PS backissues to my hearts content. Lots of fun.
This months PS magazine has information on electric wipers to replace air wipers. You can read about it at https://www.logsa.army.mil/psmag/psonline.cfm Apparently it's a bolt on deal. Has an NSN number. Maybe someone with the right connections can track down the manufacturer and get a cost.
I think the quickest and most elegant way to do it would be to have electrically actuated air brakes. Prodigy makes some excellent controllers that can be adapted for this purpose and ARB makes a 12 volt compressor that would be ideal for this purpose. If this is of interest to you I can do some...
There are a number of ways to do this. Do you want something Rube Goldbergesque and cheap or do you want something elegant that will cost a little coin?
The good thing about these large trucks is that they are standardized. Which makes them very easy to modify to do what you want them to do. If you like the way it is now with a COE that's great. COE tractors have fallen out of favor and you can buy one for a song. Other than the junkman...
You could have a Kenworth K100 cab. They are very similar to the C500 COE. The K100 is an over the road tractor. It's construction is not as robust as the C500 cab. What you could do is put Kenworth W900 sheetmetal on your rig. Add a big old condo sleeper, polished aluminum wheels, chrome...
I have a few pics for you. I'm not sure how much help a book would be for you. A C500 is a Class 8+ truck. Like all trucks class 5 and larger you purchase them by component. For example you could go to your local Kenworth dealer to order a new C500 tomorrow. Well you'd have to decide on a number...
Ok, thought maybe you found the long lost Halliburton Mongolia truck.
In 1976 Halliburton placed an order for 30 C500 trucks with Kenworth. Due to various production delays the delivery stretched out almost 4 years with the last truck being delivered late in 1979. The trucks were an 8 wheel...
While I can't specifically speak to the multi fuels construction, in a diesel engine fluid cross contamination is often caused by deteriorated injector cup o-rings. This will allow diesel to get into the coolant, and coolant to drain back to the fuel tank. Rarely it can allow motor oil to get...
