Looked at the statutes, couldn't find anything. Probably federal regulation defining these classes. From other searching it looks like Class C is a CDL catch-all though and would apply to vehicle combinations that don't fit in A or B.
Actually, looking through that link more carefully it looks like there's either the wrong wording, or a loophole that may apply to the LMTV.
Class C doesn't apply if you're not hauling people or hazardous materials.
Class A would apply if your trailer is 10,000 lbs or more GVWR.
Class B, by...
I'm a big fan (ha?) of electric fans. Flex-a-lite sells some pretty heavy duty fans, I think they all come under 30A or less, and that's really just starting amperage. Running amperage is much lower. They key would be getting proper coverage with a shroud. You could also get a couple fans and...
Well, unpinned I can understand because I've seen the other posts here where that pin (which is only for preparing the truck for transport, IIRC) is engaged when the truck is driven and it shears off the flange.
Not sure why it would be deflated though.
I only saw maybe a couple missing on the pan? The nice driver (with the WTEC3) had a "transmission leak" that looked clearly like hydraulic fluid from the air-hydraulic unit dripping down, but I think I'm not the only one figured that.
First two looked potentially easy to fix, last non-runner...
I don't believe this violates the rules, the auctions are over. Just wondering if anyone from here got one of the 3 M1081 w/w from GP in Ft. Dix, NJ. Two runners and a non-runner. I went for the wrong runner, apparently! First one that didn't drive at all went for a steal, second one that had no...
If I ever get an LMTV that's one of the things I plan on doing. There are various coverings you can get--all very common in the performance turbocharging world.
Another things I plan on doing is taking off and ceramic coating the exhaust so it's not so easily prone to rust. Plus maybe some...
What kind of Road Side Assistance do you have?
I have Hagerty for our two classic/project cars, and I have their $120/year unlimited free towing for all household vehicles. I have many doubts they would tow a LMTV. Unless it fits on a normal flatbed tow truck I guess?
Well, for now, I'm asking whether it's safe to do. The legal part can be overcome, although it looks annoying and possibly expensive.
I didn't realize 10k lb trailers were such a big deal.
It looks like in TX, my former state, you could get a class A non-commercial license for personal...
Interesting. Completely forgot to check on the licensing required. I looked into this for my state: http://www.state.nj.us/mvc/Commercial/CommercialDriver.htm
Looks like for an LMTV ~25000 lbs + 10,001 lbs trailer = Class A (!) CDL :???:
Guess I can start driving 80,000 lb tractor-trailers...
Short version:
If the tow vehicle is rated for 10,000 lbs, and the trailer is rated for 14,000+ lbs GVWR is it still OK to tow if the actual weight of the trailer is, say, 8,500 lbs?
Long version:
What I'd really like to be able to do is get a 2 car trailer and tow it with an M1078. I've read...
