Many thanks for the advice. I am looking into a Spider Box.
I do have a small Honda 2200 watt generator but it is not quite enough to run the AC in my travel trailer with everything else. It’s been fine this winter but I know there are some long, hot days coming in TN. :)
I am writing to request advice or ideas for wiring a MEP 1040 generator to use at my off grid homestead site. I would like to use the generator for a couple of purposes-
1) Shore power for my small travel trailer that uses a typical 30 amp RV plug
2) Temporary power in the field for powering...
Today, I had the pleasure of touring Memphis Equipment with company president, Mr. Doug Cummings. Doug has been an excellent resource as I considered all the options for a military grade, off road dump truck. I decided to purchase a M929 Dump Truck from Memphis Equipment and the tour was a...
Thanks for all the advice regarding military dump trucks. After considering several options, I have decided to purchase a reconditioned M929 dump truck from Memphis Equipment.
The M929 is simple, rugged, dependable and should be ideally suited to use in a location that is hilly, rocky, and...
Point well taken. There are some great resources online about buying your first dump truck. One thing I learned is the truck’s suspension is very important to safely operate the dump body. For example, over-the-road trucks can be converted with a dump body but it will still have the air bag...
I am in the market for a heavy duty off-road dump truck to use at my property TN. The terrain is hilly, rocky and steep in places so I think a 6x6 would be ideal for moving dirt, rock, logs, etc. I am making some building pads and my dump trailer is not cutting it. The trailer sits too low to...
I did replace all the smaller fuses, which I think included the F2 location. I am not sure about the F24 location.
The Emergency button is not depressed and I can start the machine just fine.
I am having an issue with my Terex 51-19M telehandler boom. The boom will not go back down. I’ve checked the fuel to see if it was spiked with Viagra but its clean. :) Seriously, the machine runs and moves just fine except for the issue with the boom. Any chance someone could provide...
The small Optima battery has now been ‘Fully Charged’ according to my AGM battery charger. It started at about 5.7v when I initiated the ‘Good Battery in Parallel’ method of charging. It took a couple of days where the charger was in ‘Boost Mode’ adding a charge to the Optima. The Boost Mode...
This instructional video on charging very low voltage AGM battery might be helpful. It describes the ‘Good Battery in Parallel’ charging process.

Thanks again for all your help. The first Optima was at 5.7v when I started the ‘Strong Battery in Parallel’ charging method. My charger has run through a couple of charging cycles but the voltage in the Optima now reads 10.2v so things are moving in the right direction. The charger seems to be...
Thanks for the tip for using a strong battery in parallel with the discharged AGM in the charger setup. Attached please find a pic of the setup I am using.
I looked at the NOCO charger website and they look like the Cadillac of battery chargers. I might have to add one to my Christmas list. ;)...
5.71v in one and 3.64v in the other. Note, this is after being on the AGM charger for 12 hours. The charger indicated “Bad Battery” on the one with 3.64v after completing the charging cycle.

I did my best to bring back the OEM Optima batteries but no joy. I used a quality battery charger that has a AGM setting. It looks like I will replace them with new AGM batteries.

ColdMike, I put a skidsteer-style quick attach adapter on my military Terex TM51-19, which is a 13,500lbs telehandler. It is pretty handy to switch out forks, rock buckets, standard buckets, etc. I also have a grapple but there were two issues using it on my little telehandler- the weight of the...
I picked up one of the MEP 1040 GenSets at the recent USMC Albany sale on GovPlanet. I think the batteries might be shot but I jumped it with 24v and it fired right up. The meter reads 8 hours but I don’t think this one was ever issued. It still has all the new tags on it.
I plan to use...
Many thanks, G744! I just completed my OpTest of the HWR using a couple of 12v batteries I had in my garage. It seems to work pretty well. I was getting around 120F on the low setting and about 160F on the high setting. The voltage of the batteries dropped to around 20v as they are old...
I am writing to request advice on the conversion for the military 24v HWR (Heater, Water and Ration) unit to 12v system. The spec on the heater calls for 22-28 V dc 15A Maximum (14A nominal). My voltage converter puts out 24v 20A max from the 12v source. From what I recall in my electronics...
