    It has been hard on alternators, starters, and batteries. I even had to have 1 of the starter bolts helicoiled so it could be bolted on because the hole was wallowed out and stripped. It actually seemed to hold, even though the mechanic said he'd never heard of such a thing.

    I have a 1985 M1009. I recently had it converted to 12v and Im not sure it was done right. In order to start it now, I have to use starting fluid. I have been told this can cause it to become dependent and thus not want to start on its own. Is this an issue with the glow plugs, glow plug...

    I left one important piece of info out, sorry. I had to redneck rig my batteries. I only have 1 battery tray right now, the rear one, the front battery tray mounts rusted and I removed it as it was poking through the wheel well.. I have a picture of how they were hooked up before I took them...

    I have 1985 M1009 with a 24v system. I had to replace both alternators and am having an issue hooking up my batteries. I have seen all the drawing and schematics, I need a red neck down and dirty back positive goes to..... Back negative goes to.... That type of lay out. Thank you.

    I have a 1985 M1009. I plan to put a new dash cover on in the near future. While I have the dash cover off, I want to inspect and clean the connections and wiring for the dash and I will also be replacing the radiator core. Just because I will already be in the dash, kill 2 birds with one stone...
