Does anyone have a Master Parts list book in PDF for the WC-21?

Really good looking work on the truck. Am interested in the backdrop on the wall--was that painted on directly etc., please fill us in on what was the story of the mural. I have similar work on my shop wall done by a very talented painter friend- will get some pictures to post.

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2019 - September VOTE HERE!

Thanks, it's one thing to enjoy the appreciation from the general public for our vehicles but an acknowledgement coming from our group, that knows what work is behind getting these machines running, is really special!

GPA cont. Lots of ducting to get air to run through the radiator when the surf is up and the deck hatches are closed. All dressed up at VT car show. Don't need a pick-up...

Steel Soldiers MV of the month 2019 - September VOTE HERE!

Hi All, A little background on the 1942 Ford GPA Amphibious Jeep. It really is Jeep based, with a frame, engine, and 4 wheel drive power train all taken from the basic wartime Jeep. Additions are made with a PTO to run the propeller and the bilge pump(when needed!). Rubber boots protect both the...

September 2019 MV of the Month Nominations

Thanks for your interest. The picture of the GPA was taken in Vermont, just down the road from home. The lakes here in this hilly country are mostly the result of the last glacial cycle [big time global cooling/warming] with a scouring out of depressions during advances and filling with water...

    Photos of My M916

The M172 is a really nice rig, lots of capacity, stable ride, but biggest advantage is with wide armor on board you can walk around the deck and stay on your feet! I re-did on mine, to good effect, the air lines, wiring, slack adjusters, and seals.

    1954 Studabaker REO rear window

You might check with Peninsula Glass Co., Vancouver, WA (360-892-2029). They made up a perfect rear replacement window for my M916A1 with an added sliding opening feature. Quality product and good service.

    First Dodge truck - 1962 M43B1 Ambulance

Welcome! The truck looks unusually clean, did it come from a collector. Don't see any evidence of "innovation", very original machine!

Univis 47 - Oil for Oilgear Turret Traverse on Sherman Tank - Question

I've been using regular hydraulic oil in the traversing system on the Stuart. Works fine on the gyrostabilizer as well. Just match the weight to the temperature range in your area, there is nothing special about the pumps or valves that require anything different.

Hi guys. Super single problems on m916a3

I agree, been running pretty heavy (74,000) with the 14's for a couple of years and the XZL's feel very stable. They were a big help with the final drive ratio as well, though not as important in the OP's case, as he is running the A3 version which has the overdrive top gears in the Allison.

Hi guys. Super single problems on m916a3

Back to the question of the OP- running super singles on the Freightliner....The axles will take the plentiful military 20" wheels from the 5 tons or from the HEMTT. The latter will likely require longer studs, but both wheels are stud centered with easy to get hardware. Pictured is set-up with...

What do you want to know about five-ton history?

Hi David, How about something concerning the reduction in truck weight classes after WW11. The selection of 2 1/2 and 5 then later 10 ton was quite a change from the range of war time weights. What was the thinking? The cab configuration is always interesting, was it part of the spec. at the...

What do YOU want to know about G-742 history?

Hi David, All great questions above for your reflection. The 2 1/2 and 5 ton are of amazing significance to so many of us, any information will be really appreciated. I'm also interested in the quick move from the original single tire configurations in the first releases, as having...

    1992 m915a2

Excellent trucks, been running the M916A1 for a few years and still impressed with performance and comfort. For reference you might check some of the upgrades that I've added that would work for your truck. Go to the forum on: 5 ton and up mods; and search under M916A1. The threads on M916A1...

PS magazine ends its printed format 17 June, 2017

Just a quick adjustment- the first PS issue came out in June 1951. It had been preceded during the WW11 period by Army Motors magazine, both doing the job of getting information out into the field in advance of the time needed to issue changes to TM and TB publications.

    1200r20 tires on a m916a2 ????

Might look into the M139 set up from the original 5 ton series. As you likely know, the first 5 ton versions ran a couple of tire sizes; single 14:00 for the narrow bed cargo, and then dual 11:00 for the rest of the initial line. The slightly later M139 was the wider, heavy carrier (boat...

Freightliner M916a1 frame length behind cab ?

OK John, I measure 155 inches, from the back of the cab to the end of the frame proper. Then there is the extension for the support brackets for the rear roller ( see Pix). Your right, you should have kept the one you had, it is an amazing truck! John
