1951 PE-95K Gen Set, Canadian Version - Refurb

Yup, the flat head 4 cyl can benefit from a compression boost. I've cut .030 off stock heads, but also picked up an after market aluminum high compression head from back in the day. Put it on a Ford GPA and it really does kick up the power, needed due to the 1000 pounds extra weight. I suspect...

1951 PE-95K Gen Set, Canadian Version - Refurb

Here you go- pix of exhaust and top of radiator decals. Big storm and wind here but very dry snow, so no power outages yet.....

1951 PE-95K Gen Set, Canadian Version - Refurb

Looking good, there should be enough of these units around to replace your few tired parts. Amazing what a lot of TLC and paint can do! Attached is a picture of the decal for the air cleaner settings, that you mentioned, along with a shot of some of the other decals. I picked up this unit with 3...

1951 PE-95K Gen Set, Canadian Version - Refurb

We seem to get about 3 or so outages each year, the winter ones are the real concern. Last year was a 3AM one with a temperature of -24F. The cold split a major pole that then took out power to 4 towns. The line crew had 12 hours work, all below 0, to get back on line. Not many tougher jobs...

1951 PE-95K Gen Set, Canadian Version - Refurb

Had to run the generator the other day and remembered this recent thread on the PE95. This is mine with the Jeep engine, late model with shielded/waterproof ignition. The engines have low compression heads and slightly smaller carb throats than the regular Jeep, and loaf along at 1800 rpm to get...

    m5a1 high speed tractor

Looks to be in good shape, Southeastern Equipment worked with lots of these back in the day and might still be around with parts and advice. I believe the tracks are same as on Stuart light tank, though usually see the all steel version on the high speed tractors. Yours look serviceable and can...

    Loading ramps

The outfit is Discount Ramps @ 888-651-3431. The tech staff that I talked with was Jim Douglas. I ended up with 20" wide, 96" long, their # 30-20-096-02-02-MLL, just for reference. Check out their website- lots in material.

    Loading ramps

Having hauled around the 4 man OEM steel ramps for years, originally issued for the M172A1, would strongly recommend going aluminum. As NDT points out the lifting load is on your back, but even more interesting is the relief to your friends. They show up on time for loading, and aren't...

    M916A1 flatbed mini-PLS

Howard, really good looking job and it's off to work already! What did you use (make?) the king pin from? Trying to think how to get around the height issue, and only come up with a recess pocket 5th wheel. I'm still thinking about a ballast box version for bob-tailed off road traction.

    So I'm Thinking 10 Ton

The 747 trailer is actually quite sought after. It along with the current M1000 version, provide some of the biggest platforms for hauling seriously heavy equipment. They are wicked expensive when new in the commercial versions, and hence the surplus models also get a good price. Would be quite...

    2016 Weare New Hampshire Rally

Looking forward to the show! If anyone interested I can bring a complete sandblasted M38 Jeep body, with fenders, hood, windshield, tailgate. In decent condition and ready to work on without any old primers/top coats in the way. Also have take-off 5th wheel, articulating style, from a 5 ton...

How deep can a LMTV go...

What's the problem, in 1942 the military had a solution for wet roads. Was just out last weekend checking for any leaks in the axle air pressurization system. Hardest part is always convincing yourself that it's just fine to keep on driving down the ramp. I do think that the LMTV can be made...

    M38 MC Light switch problems

Keep in mind that the service lights and the blackout lights are separate circuits. The early "M"series trucks followed the WW11 pattern of left side tail light with service tail and stop on top and B.O. marker on bottom. The right side tail light had B.O. stop on top and B.O. marker on bottom...

    Reo OA-331 intake/exhaust questions

Not surprised at the performance, the Reo is quiet, has a good torque point and lots of high revs available. For one of the long hauls out to visit Jack Tomlin in Utah, back in the day, I added a second fuel tank and swapped the Spicer to the 5th overdrive configuration. It lived in top gear on...

    Reo OA-331 intake/exhaust questions

Replacement parts for the heat valve in the manifold or a complete used one should be available from the regular suppliers. Is a handy feature to have on the truck for cold climate locations to speed up the fuel/air system warm up. Is a similar unit, also with manual adjustment, on the Dodge 3/4...

    Tow Bar Stowage Ideas

For your XM-818 tractor think about carrying the tow bar sections on both sides of the rear frame rails. With no cargo box in the way, access is easy for installation and removal for use. The extra weight is also where it can be put to use. Did this for my M52 for years and now have the set up...

    Vermont mv rally

Heads UP- it's getting close, the annual Waterbury, Vermont MV Rally -July 8-10. Wide range of vehicle types, flea market bargains, on site camping, and lots of good people.

    Red dot air conditioner

It's not for the Freightliner M915 series, put one in a while ago and all the pictured components are quite different. However, the nice thing about Red Dot units is the ability to adapt them to a wide range of equipment. I would keep looking for a match as someone will then be very happy to get it.

    First recovery with the M1078

WOW, what a change in scale over a couple of generations of the standard cargo hauling rigs. Would have been hard to predict, though the high flotation option for the CCKW did sport semi-super singles. I'll second the notion of the necessary role of friends in this hobby, as the trucks get...

Jeeps and others after WW2 pics

Thanks for the GPA pictures, they were new to me. Certainly makes you think differently about reenactment plans for the summer!
