replacing wood bows on M101 A2

Dimensions for my original bow wood is: 57-3/4" long, 1-3/4" wide, 1-1/4" thick. This is the bow wood, not the side boards---do you need the dims of them also?--can measure them for you if you need. I did find out that the Mahogany is most likely from the Phillipines--best I can determine, it...

    2740lbs in an M101A2

I hauled a load of oak logs a while back(M101A2)--didn't even flex the springs that much. I usually pick up 2 yds of planting dirt for the garden--if it's wet-now that pushes it down - sometimes to the bumpers-still tracks true. Had a neighbor tell me the left rear tire looked like it was...

Hey, you folks in SW Fl.--I'm here in Alva--Don't have a driven MV, but an M101A2 trailer---pulled by a Toyota Land Cruiser- someday converted to a camper - but not at the expense of the original design. Didn't know there were folks this close. Gary Stilwell

I have a Barber-Coleman Co.(Rockford,Ill) Aircraft controller motor-24VDC Mod #aYLc 2121, Ser No. 03222. I think it was used as a cooler control on a B-24. Anyone have any info on this motor? (wiring diagrams/manual/pics)?Thanks,Gary

    M101A2 Brake Flulid

Stick with the DOT 5(silicone). I just cleaned, flushed, and refilled my 101A2.(took 2 Advance Auto bottles with a tad left over). The Silicone is hydrophobic--doesn't like water, unlike the DOT 3 product.-So your system will stay cleaner. If you don't have any leaks, it should be a 1-time job.Gary

the winch is a manual one used originally for jacking 4160 volt circuit breakers out of their cabinets. It has a ton of turns to get any movement, but is sturdy, it'll pull the whole trailer without too much manual effort. I have two more of them, I think somewhere. I mounted this on the trailer...

Fuzzytoaster is correct-4 wheeler and mower-or anything else that will fit. The front bow originally had a metal bow--I replaced it with Mahogany to match the others.

replacing wood bows on M101 A2

I think I must have goofed the post before, but, the corners were blasted, primed and painted w/ Rustoleum Aged Iron paint. Bow Carriage Bolts & nuts were all replaced w/stainless and painted copper. For the sides, the bolts(flat head screws) were all replaced w/Stainless-into captive nuts--all...

replacing wood bows on M101 A2

Those sleeves are like captive nuts-yes, they are necessary to hold the wood to the frame(speaking about the side wood here.) These nuts are available from local hardware stores(Ace). you can get them in brass/Zinc/Stainless. If I remember correctly, the bolts are 3/16"X 1 1/4" . They go through...

replacing wood bows on M101 A2

If your bows are bowing, it is probably a moisture issue. Reversing them is just what you should do. Keep an eye on them, and after they begin to get back to the original straight form, seal up the trailer somehow to stop the moisture from getting in----(The best method would be to remove the...

replacing wood bows on M101 A2

I did get matching Mahogany(well, almost-I got Honduran-I think the original was from Africa, or the Phillipines, judging by the grain pattern) from a local wood supplier(Alva Hardwoods). As in the prev. post, I dimensioned it ok and varnished using Epiphanes Varnish-lots of work up front, but...

replacing wood bows on M101 A2

Wood bows- My A2 has solid Mahogany bows and sides-this stuff is not available at any Lowes/Home depot and such. The guy I bought it from has 5 more trailers just like it--all Mahogany. I had to replace a broken front bow-got a good sized piece of lumber(Honduras Mahogany--2"X3"X10')from our...

    M101A2 Wood Sides

Location is very possible. I never asked the question of where they came from. The PO's brother has a lumber business-I got a long piece of Honduran Mahogany to replace the one front bow that was metal. Should be done in a week or so.
