I don't know how many of these bikes were purchased by military and sent to HDT for conversion, I think they only converted about 200 of the diesel version.
My bike came from a local sheriff department, I was told they mostly used it on drug raids, they had made a few upgrades, I didn't like the windshield they had put on it, so that was the first to go, also added a new stencil kit. I would have liked the diesel version but my pockets wasn't that...
Do you have the right bolts in your tranny hat? Seems like I remember using washers on the bolts and it put the starter in a bind, the tolerances are tight where the starter sits on top of the tranny.
The Converto was built under a Navy contract, they are rare, Chuck Lutz(RIP) said he had only 4 registered in his database. I found it in a field while cruising the backroads here in arkansas, I thought it was a M100 when I bought it, notice the front handbrake.
Thanks for the response, it was 3 hours from me but the ad has disappeared, I should have jumped on it, he only wanted $650 for it, I always drag my feet on these deals. lol. Thanks, Buddy.
