So....
I did that dual fuel line mod ages ago and for whatever reason today I used the emergency shut off after a drive and it doesn't work. Took the fitting off the IP thinking it was broken inside and not closing but it appears normal and it opens/closes just fine. Tried blowing through it...
My front main as leaking so I tore into it today. I got to the point where the harmonic balancer mount on the crank needs to be pulled off and I can see the seal behind it. Looks simple enough to replace when I get the correct puller. The seal sits in a round bracket inside the 2 piece front...
Soooo...
I repaired my leak from the other thread with a new o-ring in the kickdown cable housing. And refilled it with ATF and a new spin-on filter.
For those who care ATF is a world of difference, smoother shifts, no hard clunk/bang from N-5 & 1-2 anymore. Very enjoyable.
Now the part most...
The little housing for the shifter cable has been leaking for a couple years now. I couldn't tell if it was the lil o-ring on the cable or the housing cover rubber gasket. Anyways, I pulled it off the cover to check both and oil starts leaking out, and still is - I have a 5 gal bucket under it...
So I replaced my PB switch with the proper one as the jake switch setup was too sensitive to bumps.
I put the new NOS one in and it's acting backwards like it should be. With the brake off (lever forward) the light stays on and with the brake on (lever back) the light is off. I can clearly see...
I found this old M809 in some truck yard today while out doin some stuff.
When I was in the army the 5 tons were long gone but guys told me they used to have them. I see they put jakes on afterwards when they bought a butt load from the Americans (when we had a division is Germany in the...
Sooo, today I went about replacing all 3 diff breathers and found 2/3 stuck closed. They let go a bit of air pressure from within when I removed them. I have since run straight barbed fittings with 3/16" rubber line to act as the vent now. This may explain why the front diff was leaking out of...
Finally got some some 395's Michelins.
What are you guys running for tire pressure with run flats? The tire shop put in 100 Psi but I could tell from driving they were overinflated. I aired them down to 60 psi, seems better.
Does anyone have an idea what a Goodyear 14.00R20 AT-2A with a combat wheel installed weighs?!
I got a smokin' deal on 7 of them and have to haul them all in the back of my short box Ram 2500 lol for about 350 miles. I think if I stack them just right it can wing this. My truck's payload maxes...
It has begun...
I finally got my kitty home. This is a 1995 CAT 3406B, equipped with 425 HP, jakes and oil cooler. Paired to it, a surprisingly (thought it was a 10 spd at first) Eaton 7 spd twin countershaft transmission. The engine is a running take out and it wasn't smoking or knocking or...
Sooooo....my CAT 3406B arrives Sunday for my swap in the ol M931 - (another thread).
It has a standard SAE #1 flywheel bolted on to run any regular 15" clutch.
I can't use the MT654 as its not rated for input hp this engine will produce. What are my options? Will a 9,10,13,15,18 Eaton Fuller...
Ever since I bought my truck, the fail-safe had been unplugged.
With in plugged in the issue was the park brake light/buzzer wouldn't shut off. I diagnosed and found the park brake switch wasn't closing, (therefore grounding on contact) regardless of what position the park brake handle is in...
Does anyone know the Cummins or equivalent part number for the oil filter adapter base o-ring? The big one. Mine is leaking, I followed the instructions to the T but it leaks so I'd like to change it.
I made some convoy lights this week.
I used 68" of 1.25" square tubing and some 7" round plates. Welded on some 2-7/8" exhaust clamps in the OEM positions. I picked up some Grote Strobe lights from my local truck parts house. After I replaced my batteries with 2 8D ones I wired in a complete...
So this week I gots lots of fun things happening. Oil filter base adapter (if it shows up in the mail), paint touchups and a fuel filter base mod. The new base is a Fleetguard 142784S with a LF1212 filter. My question is I know the filter base side is 7/8-14 or -10AN ORB, the truck fuel lines...
Can the 2 piece combat wheel for the 5 ton seat properly a 14.5R20 Michelin? Thinking about running these for my steers and keeping the duals. If so I can get these local but wanted to make sure they'll work together as I've read here about alot of tire/wheel combos that aren't proper for each...
First off, I love this place! I have solved so far all the problems my 5 ton has experienced with just reading info off this site, simply amazing!
I have a summer project with my 5 ton this summer and my truck came with the G177 11.00R20 tires brand new since refurb (2008ish). they're still...
Looks like I need to replace my L/H front steer axle hub seal, grease spewn all over the inside of the tire. Is this # from the parts sticky was my truck will need? Part #NOS 47660
I'm having a serious problem. I was out taking my truck for a boot around town tonight when I noticed that it wasn't building any air after awhile. My gauges were showing the tanks depleting after brake applications and honestly I can't hear the compressor going into the loading stage with the...
