I agree with Guy, unless you have a gen repair business those load banks are over kill.
I acquired 3 Avtron K490's and an Avtron LPH100 from my old place of employment and other than taking the K490 out to my brother's to load his 3 Kw once in a while and load my 802 they just sit in my garage...
Spec for 802 and 803 is not for THD the mil spec is "Any single frequency harmonic shall not exceed 3 percent in the single phase
connections or 2 percent in the 3-phase, 120/208-volt connection." up to the 50th harmonic.
Don't buy an Ametek buy a Contact Industries.
We had a lot of issues with Ametek during production.
If anyone is interested, I have 4 or 5 brand new in the box.
We used to use Prestolite but I believe they became unavailable so we went to Contact Industries, then some engineer decided that...
For those that are interested in how these sets were tested at the factory.
Seach for Mil Std 705 which is the standard for testing generator sets.
The spec limits for each size genset is different but this is the standard for test methods.
There are two test for load that come to mind they are...
What ever it is its not right.
You notice if the linkage rod is on an angle going into the fuel lever seat?
I think the rod is straighter if it's mounted to the outside
I worked for Fermont, there are several people that over the years have done alot of work on these units and have been a big help to many people who needed help on this forum.
I can probably locate a new linkage but the swivel joint connected to the actuator is seperate from the rest of the...
There is a linkage set up procedure out there somewhere.
Looks like that may be a government test unit, we use to thermocouple sets in that same way except we used only type J thermocouples those are type K.
First get the right voltage and freq. readings, then troubleshooting can be done.
Dont jump into buying an inverter you dont need, if your voltage is wrong then maybe K15 isnt closing properly and you cant close the contactor.
Sounds like a bad inverter.
Like I said we never repaired the inverters just replaced.
I have no internal parts for it, I do have a brand new in the box inverter and I also have a 50 hz inverter that I cranked the freq. pot up to 60 hz.
I worked for Fermont for 38 years as their test engineer we never had the batteries in the sets we always started the sets with slave batteries.
Just make sure you leave the batteries plugged in for a while after starting to recharge the batteries.
I hope that's expert enough for you.
You are wrong, there is nothing wrong with starting the set and then removing the batteries.
Only thing I would caution is that if the set shuts down on a fault you will have no dc to light the fault indicator after shutdown.
