Deuce Crash - Subway drive thru.

Things like this are why a Deuce wasn't even in the picture for me when I was deciding what I want. Too much truck with not enough brakes. I have always felt that for safety ANY truck that size (and some smaller) needs full air brakes.

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

As much as I didn't like doing it I wound up bringing the truck to La and leaving it at a friends house where I can park it for free. I will fly back tomorrow AM. I came to the realization that at noon today I would have 900 miles to go by Tuesday night and I had not slept since Saturday night...

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

I am considering leaving the truck in Louisiana at family's and flying home Tuesday, then go back and get it later when I can take more time. I have 1400 miles to go and HAVE to be at work at 0900 Weds. That's not leaving much margin for error.

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

While I was waiting to charge my phone at Advance Auto a lady came in who does aircraft upholstery. GO didn't mention that the entire top was unsewn from the part that holds it in the front-thus blowing off going down the road. We took the truck to her shop and she took the top off, fixed it and...

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

Flew in fine, got to the truck. Could NOT get it jumped off. Spent 2+ hours replacing batteries and it still would not start. Worked on it another hour before finding the manual engine shutdown tripped on the engine (was pushed in in the cab). Got it running and stopped all along the way to...

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

Baby steps. The truck is off Ft. Riley and at the towing storage lot. Glen made me an great deal on a set of bed sides and troop seats. The driver said the truck drove good, no issues from the base to their yard. I fly in Sunday at 10:35 and the tow company is going to pick me up at the airport...

Sanford Fl. to Robins AFB Ga.

Nope, no AC. People ask all the time how we live in the Keys with the heat-they are nuts! I just looked at the forecast for my trip home and it is going to be hotter in Kansas than it is down here, at least here we have the breeze off the water most days!

BFR Metals, Salina Kansas, a Goodie Hole

It is quite a drive out of the way, however I don't know that I would find a better deal on a set. Can you PM me your number and I will call and see what we can work out? Thanks!

BFR Metals, Salina Kansas, a Goodie Hole

I wouldn't be lucky enough for you to be open on Sunday would I? I am picking my truck up in Ft. Riley and heading straight back from there.

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

Thanks for the advice! I drove truck for 7 years but didn't run that route much, good idea to cut across. Do you guys think that the southern route still has good access to services (roadside service, tire, etc)? Looks like it is a lot less interstate, which is fine since the truck will only go...

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

I found a tow company about 15 min away that is going to go get the truck and move it to their yard Thursday so I can pick it up and start my trip directly on Sunday, gives me a much larger window to get home and should be less stressful.

M923 Ft. Riley to Florida Keys

I found a driver for a tow company that is going to get the truck out and hold it for me until Sunday Thanks!

Upcoming road trip: Ft. Riley, KS to Florida Keys

I got in touch with Glen, great guy-unfortunately he works full time and can't get free-going to look into tow companies next-at least to get it off the base, if I can pick it up Sunday I should be good with three days for driving. ~B~

M923 Ft. Riley to Florida Keys

I have a ticket booked to fly into Ft. Riley on Sun 06-21 and drive the truck back. Is there anyone that lives close (taxi distance) that could pick the truck up this week so I could get it on Sunday instead of having to wait until Monday AM? I would be willing to pay a reasonable fee for your time.
