Yes I did do the swap... I installed an 83 or 84 700r4 trans and transfer case from a civi 1/2 ton. I ended up using a 88 1/2 ton driveshaft with a u-joint from NAPA that changes from insde lock to outside lock. The stock driveshaft from the 400 settup was 2" too short. Thanks to kennyw I...
In my case, there is a place for a bulb under the plastic trim piece...but no wiring for it. The only lite is the one in the upper left of the instument panel when your in 4x4. :-D
Wow...Thanks for all the quik replys. The doner truck was a 1982 1/2 ton diesel. I had the tranny rebuilt by a local tranny shop. The torque converter was replaced with a new one and I am using the transfer case from the donor also. All there is on this tranny is a t/v cable and a square four...
I have just installed a 700r4 to replace the original 400 broke by GL. It works fine but I need a simple wiring diagram to hook up the lock up torque. Cant this be done without an expensive internal mod? Thx

I have 27 volts with the engine running from engine ground to Gen 2 positive post and 14.4 from ground to Gen 1 pos post. Is that correct? Thx, Tim
Diagram F-9 shows the ground wire for #2 gen going to the 12 volt harness block. is this correct? I have a charging issue after replacing the wiring harness. (had a fire caused by a faulty NAPA AR 135)
