I did something very similar to this 5 years ago but used a metal watertight box I had laying around. I put a desiccant pack in before I closed it up and haven't had a moisture issue ever.

I've got two of those cranes and I'm building my own breaker box.
I use two, one digital, one analog. The digital is a fluke 179 while the analog is the old reliable Simpson 260P. I also have an Ideal TestPro 360 digital as my "throw down" meter.
