    MEP803a Battery Charging Issue

I am curious though. The battery closest to the recharge alternator reads 12.7 volts while the other reads 14.8. Is this normal?

    MEP803a Battery Charging Issue

Yes Sir, the battery closest to the charge alternator went bad and so did the alternator but other battery was fine so only had to replace one. They’re less than a year old.

    MEP803a Battery Charging Issue

Guess next step is to leave it alone for 3 or 4 days and see if there’s any power loss in the battery closest to the charge alternator.

    MEP803a Battery Charging Issue

Well gentlemen I've read all the threads, I think, but I just put new batteries, new battery charge alternator on my 803, checked the wiring on the ammeter, checked fuse and the unit run great and puts out plenty of power to the house...issue is my ammeter will not go to the positive side. it's...

So, thanks to Ray I got the IP back and installed. Fired up the unit and it was hard to start, blew blue smoke and just ran poorly...so after conversation with Ray it was determined I set the timing 180* off. Even though I had the pointer directly on the PC mark and the 1/8" drill bit in the IP...

So I have added ATF to all my diesel, both in the machines and storage. Will it be ok to add the Optilub I just bought along with the ATF? Don't suppose it will hurt a thing but just have to ask.

So run your unit once per month for how long and do they need to be under load.

    MEP-003A

Cetain is what some old Cummins mechanics recommend. Jet-A has less of a lubricating quality. I can buy off road diesel here, it has a red color added to it but is probably no different than taxed diesel. I have a diesel pickup with a 40 gal. tank. Will probably start rotating stored fuel into...

Perhaps I should go to 2 oz/gal of ATF in the fuel instead of just 1. IP on it’s way to you.

I would really like to learn how to rebuild this IP but don't think I have the right tools and certainly not a good room to work. Yes Sir, if you would please order the parts, I'll get it off, drain it and clean it up before sending to you. Thanks for all your help.

    MEP-003A

So we have fuel (1 oz ATF per gal diesel) going to IP but no fuel to injectors.

    MEP-003A

When I first got it, it was in pretty bad shape. 1977 model with 1527 hrs on it. Got it running and itran pretty good and then started going down hill. All seemed to trace back to IP& injectors so sent them off to Ray for rebuild. After they the unit ran great with no issues. Last ran about 6...

    MEP-003A

Well the gov. Solenoid is finally picking up but not getting fuel to engine. Fuel is coming out of fuel tank return line so going to have to pull injector lines I guess.

    MEP-003A

I just tested K2 relay and with CB2 pushed in, I get 25.3V incoming and 18.2V outgoing. Haven't looked at wire numbers yet. could this be an issue?
  18. J

    MEP-003A

Voltage at batteries also reads 25.3V
  19. J

    MEP-003A
