    Suspension refresh/upgrade Control Arms

Probably the same on the HMMWV for the most part. Sitting right next to that engine cover, not sure I'm going to hear any suspension squeeking either.

    Suspension refresh/upgrade Control Arms

I get what you are saying about Poly bushings. I know of some that have grease fittings that allow you to lubricate them to keep the noise away and wear low. Supposedly Energy Suspension's Black Poly have some Graphite embedded which is supposed to increase life and decrease noise, we'll see...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

As Tobash said, the Military still have lots of them they are still using them, and until full production of some type of replacement is entering service in numbers they will keep auctioning them off, for years to come. Although some never make it to auction, they do cut some up in pieces for...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

I would say we're in between a NE car and a West coast vehicle. Having just moved a year ago from WA state and I have 9 vehicles (only 3 vehicles in Hawaii, rest of sitting in my shop in WA). I did spend a couple of years living on the Big Island when I was in High School. I've got a lift in my...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

Just on a different question. Has anyone tried the Energy Suspension Control Arm bushings?

    HMMVs coming from Hawaii

Vehicles that are Rust buckets here are old ones that were didn't have rustproofing like most vehicles in the last 20yrs. HMMWV's body is Aluminum, yes Frame is Steel. I've got two over here and the rust on the frame or suspension components isn't bad at all. There are more Army vehicles than...

4L80E Transmission controller upgrade. What’s this?

Sounds like a good plan. My M998 conversion with the Shift 4 was a TH400 that I converted to a 4L80e so there was no harness or wiring for the TCU. I bought the Shift 4 harness from US Shift when I bought the Shift 4. The harness came with some good plastic conduit and pretty much all of the...

4L80E Transmission controller upgrade. What’s this?

I would just hate to see you cut up an OEM 4L80e harness as they are expensive. I think I would at least leave all of the original harness and just run one for the Quick 2 in parallel. When I contacted US Shift a couple years ago they recommended the Quick 4 which is what I put on my M998. They...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

Mogman, we'll see in the long run but I've been using Dexcool in my M998 for about 8yrs now and no issues. For the cooling I also installed the Paradox cylinder cooling upgrade a few years ago on my M998. I'm making my own for the M1097A2, just drilling and tapping the rear cooling plates myself...

4L80E Transmission controller upgrade. What’s this?

My 2011 with the seized engine didn't come with one either but due to recommendations on the forum here I ended up getting both the Turbo and Normally aspirated chips from Eastern Surplus. They were part #'s HM-817 for $17.00 & HM-818 for $49.00, at that price I bought both. For the module, as...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

I agree with Tobash in that if you can go to your GovPlanet location and look over the vehicles yourself, and maybe even get to know the guy working there, you can find some great deals. In WA state I got to know the guy working there and he called me when he got a new supply of good vehicles...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

juanprado, I swapped to Dexcool for a couple of reasons. For one, the Green stuff is getting harder to find over here. GM recommends Dexcool in all 2005 up vehicles. Dexcool lasts much longer and Dexcool is much easier on Aluminum. Longer flush intervals too. You are correct in that the system...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

Tobash, in my case I own a house in WA and most of my vehicles are still there including my M998 (w/4L80e conversion). I got a new job in Hawaii and am living here now and the GovPlanet on Island is who I bought both of my M1097A2's from. I'll be building a Shop, then a house on the Big Island...

4L80E Transmission controller upgrade. What’s this?

I guess I have to ask. Since you already have an A2, why not use one of the OEM TCU? The wiring is already set up for it. I'm using the Quickshift 4 on my M998 4L80e conversion, I just used their plastic wiring conduit and taped it up as I went. With my M1097A2 I'm leaving the OEM TCU as is.

    Suspension refresh/upgrade Control Arms

No affiliation here but saw these on sale. Somebody more knowledgeable here will know for sure if the H1 bushings will fit the HMMWV's? I'm going to order a set for the future. Most of our HMMWV's don't have a lot of miles but age wise the rubber is deteriorationg. I've never tried Energy...

Caution about Iron Planet/Gov Planet HMMWV's

I know this should be obvious, but I'll post it anyways. My first HMMWV, a M998 from GovPlanet in Western WA was a '89 in great shape, came from a OR Guard unit with '06 MMA overhaul, 218 w/6.5. Fluids all looked fresh and correct but being anal I swapped everything fresh with Redline...

Lots of Questions about 4L80E Swaps

I've got a M998 that I swapped to a 4L80E last year as well as a recently purchased M1097A2. Nice that the M1097A2 is over 15yrs newer and has other updates too. As mentioned, doing the M998 isn't difficult mechanically but pulling the old tranny and installing the new one, with or without the...

Chichimarz, where are you at in WA? I may have a box or two, I'm down by Eatonville on the way to Mt Rainier....currently overseas but I'll be back in WA for a week in the middle of June. Do you know what box you have right now?

Looking for help with 4L80E transmission on an M1123 HMMWV

Engine is definitely frozen. Kind of pissed off as the video from Govplanet showed them jumping it and cranking over fine even though it didn't start. Figured that would be a fairly easy fix (Glowplugs, Controller, etc..) I'm thinking they posted the video of a different HMMWV, mixed up on...
