It's funny, cause I have a soft top, and there is a Brinks padlock and chain for the steering wheel. I've been content to keep nothing in it.

I mounted a 12v fuse box in the passenger rear seat well with a 100amp disconnect and ran all my accessories through that. Reverse lights, chargers, interior lights, radio, etc. Now, I feel like I worked a lot harder and spent a lot more money than necessary. I've got 1200 watts if I ever need...
Speaking of wiper blades, I lost an arm on the passenger side and I bought 2 replacements. For the life of me, I can't get the other one off or get the lost one on. What is the deal with those?

I have a M998 with a 4 man soft top that is newer. Just like any convertible soft tops are leaky. I had the same problem on my 85 CJ7.

I'm lucky enough that mine isn't rusted, but I get why you're taking the time now. With surface rust you'll have a time getting anything to adhere.

So, I've been wondering if the CARC paint stripping process is necessary. Unless you're going for a Concours Restoration and you plan to recreate the factory original pattern I can't imagine that removing the CARC paint would be a good use of time. If it's chemical resistant, so well adhered...
One of my wiper arms fell off (passenger side). I bought 2 planning to replace them both but this isn't matching up with the manual or the part I received. Am I missing something?

I've had my M998 for about 2 years now and it's been the best second vehicle I've ever had. Truck bed when needed, great for camping. One of my tires runs down to 5 psi in a week and it does scare me from time to time. I dont want to replace the wheels and I dont want to spend a fortune on...
This one is $1,980!
This is just a 6o amp and they want over $600.
If you have a line on another $250 200Amp alternator, even if it needs to be rebuilt, please let me know. A buddy of mine runs a shop with his dad where all they do is rebuild alternators and starters. I'd gladly pay $250...
I think you guys just saved me a $900 on a 200 amp alternator, $50 on an installation kit, and probably a few Glow Plug Controllers/PCBs at $500 each. I think I'll just go back to my original idea and install a charging relay to keep the starters for starting and the deep cycles for house...
Have you had good results with this setup? Are both banks of batteries getting charged enough for what they're needed for? I was thinking about just putting in 2 deep cycle 12v and installing a Blue Sea ACR with disconnect switch for all my accessories. It was my understanding that the 12V...
My son is 3, and he has at least 34 years before he finds himself in my scenario. I was not trying to pontificate about what might be. I just figured my son would have a chance to do what I didn't in 34 years. Much like my father.

My first 4x4 was a CJ7. Not exactly Military Spec, but it had roots. Now I have an M998 after watching them come to popularity because of the middle east conflicts. My dad is a Vietnam vet and he doesn't know anything about the HMMWV because he was long gone before it was put in service...
I have a buddy who was a manager at the Sherwin Williams specialty coatings store in Richmond, and I used to buy a lot of high build epoxy for concrete. H could probably get what you needed. He does his own thing as an installer now, so he's got a commercial account. Could probably have it...
