    Modifying electric starter

Thanks mulman7. I have ordered the gear and adapter plate and am waiting their arrival. If I mess something up, I will let you know and grab a starter. I'm also going to need a magneto and plug wires in the future. I will post some pics with any questions before modification of the starter...

    Modifying electric starter

I recently purchased a mule (A4 according to the data plate) without a starter on it. I am planning on putting an electric starter on it and planned on using a modified VW starter I believe. Do you have to cut the old gear off the starter before you weld the new one on or do you use spacers to...

Good pedal without air assist, not with air assist

Probably not. would that cause such a big difference in pedal travel?

Good pedal without air assist, not with air assist

Just the wheel cylinders and shoes all around. Pedal pump bleed on the brakes

Good pedal without air assist, not with air assist

I have done my searches and can't quite find an answer. I just recently had the brakes fixed and I had a couple bad wheel cylinders. Now I have great pedal when I have no air pressure but the pedal goes to the floor when the air is working. I can still get them to lock up when the air is on...

    HMMWV smart start box ticking

Well I have to thank you guys again and wish I would have thought of it on my own but if you throw the jumper cable on it just might fire right up. I did learn how to change the smart start box though. Not a bad job at all. Now to do research on the ever running fan before I start a new...

    HMMWV smart start box ticking

I think they are fine. I was driving it turned it off and then had this problem maybe an hour later. One strange thing it did when I was driving it, the fan came on when I started it and did not turn off until I was about home, (5 miles or so.) The engine was not warm when it started up and...

    HMMWV smart start box ticking

Well, it is not the box. I have put three on the wounded girl and flashes the "wait" light but nothing when you hit the switch and ticking from the box. I put the original box in the other HMWWV and it operated fine. So where should I look next?

    HMMWV smart start box ticking

Okay, here is another question, it currently has the smart start system box. It flashes the wait light and does nothing but tick when you hit the start switch. The gas guage also slowly goes down when you hit the start switch. I swapped the box out for a power box from a different hmmwv, all...

    HMMWV smart start box ticking

is the box hard to change? Is there a way to check which one it is? I have another newer unit that has a blown engine so I do have access to parts. It has the 6.5 instead of th 6.2 does that make a difference on the box or plugs?

    HMMWV smart start box ticking

I drove the sheriff's office HMMWV today and it seemed to run fine. Got home and shut it off. Went back outside later to run uptown and hit the switch. It turned over about one time and then just started ticking. The ticking is coming from the smart start box and the wait light flashes. Any...

    Deuce doesn't like going backwards

Me too. And only in one direction. I will have to put that one in memory for future reference.

    Deuce doesn't like going backwards

You guys can't be thanked enough. It was the parking brake. Too much grease had been used and it had gotten on the inside of the drum and collected road grime. Go in reverse and after a short spin, it would lock down on the drum. Cleaned it up and all is well. Thanks again guys.

    Deuce doesn't like going backwards

Well I backed it up and like before it got to a point and it broke though the pressure point and then backed up fine. Stopped it and then tried to back up again and it was back to not wanting to back up again. It rolls forward fine. If I disconnect the back driveshaft I should be able to see...

    Deuce doesn't like going backwards

This old girl has the air shift transfer case. And when I say "spin " I mean it is as if they are under pressure and spin as if I was doing a burnout. Now that would be something to see. I would explain it as if it was one of the old rubber band powered airplanes I had as a kid (great toy by...

    Deuce doesn't like going backwards

I have an issue with the bobbed deuce. It runs forward great and shifts fine. No grinding going into any gear including reverse. But this thing does not want to go backwards. It started acting up as if the parking break would stick and it would not go backwards. I would put it in first bump...
