before you change your start box....

I was 100% ready to do this and was researching this work you described, but thought for $40 for a TSU that you just plug in, I might as well give it a shot before going the elimination route. Sometimes, not often, I am lucky! The diagnostic described was really easy as well. Pull off the...

before you change your start box....

A big thanks to the work done and posted on an old thread here on SS by 85 USMC M998. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/threads/6-2l-wait-to-start-light-not-coming-on.139538/ After driving the M998 all over the place the past month it just decided to no longer show the wait light or energize the...

The hmmwv convey scenes on Sicario 2 were pretty intense.

Hard doors vs. soft doors opinions

For thread I have had good luck with UV resistant braided fishing line. I used 30lb test spiderwire.

Meant to add, I referenced using EMT because if you need to do trial and error its really cheap to play around with.

Camping Mod? Four man - Two man troop carrier canvas frame MASH UP!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't have a picture handy right this minute, but I had a rear cover but no bows. I made my own using 3/4" galvanized electrical conduit and a conduit bender from home depot. I made the bracket it connects to using aluminum U-channel with holes drilled in it and 3pt hitch pins. Last part...

    Straight pipe post turbo

I am wondering if maybe I can do the downpipe from the turbo, make a 90 bend swept toward the rear and maybe fit in a resonator or short straight pipe in the bit of space there in the tunnel and after the resonator/muffler do a downturn toward the ground mid-truck and dump toward the ground...

    Straight pipe post turbo

I've had the BMI turbo installed for about a year and a half and love it, but I am ready to get rid of the exhaust going under the frame rail. Rerouting it to be in the tunnel will involve moving a lot, including transmission cooling line and I am concerned it will still place a hot pipe close...

Turbocharging a HMMWV with BMI's kit

I’ve wrote several reviews here plus have videos on some post install driving on YouTube. My user name there is MattNC video. I have 1.5 years and thousands of miles on my 6.2 since doing the install. I’d do it again no doubt. Wakes the truck up a lot and I’ve had zero issues with overheating...

    Hello everyone, new here.

11DG, not sure where you are at in NC, but if near the central part of the state we should roll over to one of the cars and coffee events when you get up and rolling. The one in Morrisville is getting massive and somebody is always showing up with some military vehicles as well. Also, again if...

    Hello everyone, new here.

I'm in NC and have a 998 that I've owned/modified for 5 years now. Watch govplanet, earlier in the year they had M1097 HMMWV's and a few others for auction north of raleigh in Butner. They may have some come through again. The govplanet route I've used for a few items. It can be anywhere...

    planning for overlanding tools/parts

Thanks everyone, this list is developing nicely. I'm going to add a 50' ball of paracord and an inexpensive hand transfer pump as well. I forgot I had those in the box under the seat but they are handy. The transfer pump is helpful for filling diffs or transfer cases, or pumping out fluids...

    planning for overlanding tools/parts

I searched around and didn't see a similar thread, so I am starting one. After almost five years of ownership I realize I need to get the M998 out exploring a bit more. I have put a ton of miles on it, but hardly any that really put it to its intended use. Here in NC my two main areas I want...

    M998 Turbo Upgrade - BMI Commander™ 6500 Turbo Kit

Yes I have several thousand miles on the kit and it’s been everything I wanted. I was just thinking the other day when hauling a fairly heavy load in the bed how it’s no issue now holding speed on hills when the 6.2 before the turbo would have me crawling.

Wanting to start a new HMMWV business. Need your help.

I would think the first thing is to know what customers you want and which ones you don't and then deliver 100% for those customers you want. Just from observing here for a while and having my HMMWV and other military items I've seen the businesses that pan out, such as RWH who gave great...

    M998 Turbo Upgrade - BMI Commander™ 6500 Turbo Kit

The exhaust pipe is still outstanding as something I want to get corrected. I did it per the kit as I needed to get it done but want to figure out a different way to route it in the future. That will require some thinking through and fabrication for sure unless I just dump it out after the turbo...

    M998 Turbo Upgrade - BMI Commander™ 6500 Turbo Kit

I did my kit following the kit turning instructions and mine doesn’t start any different from stock but will throw a bit of smoke if I let it lug on a hill in overdrive (I have a 700r4 transmission) or if I really get on it from a stop. on hills I also am around 10-11 psi max boost, I’d like to...

    More hmmwvs coming to auction

I couldn’t get close enough to be sure but they’ve had a lot of 1097’s lately

    More hmmwvs coming to auction

I was picking up a govplanet AAR 60.5 container today at butner nc and saw plenty of hmmwvs and m1102 trailers being prepped for auction. Lots of trailer mounted generators too. The pics were a bit grainy due to distance and rain. I was waiting to get loaded but had to stay in the loading area.
