Listen to what the experts have to say on the Deoxit. My new (to me) 803 A had the same issue with the load meter not working. I could not find Deoxit locally so bought and used an entire can of Gunk brand electrical contact cleaner on the switches that did nothing. I ordered the Deoxit on...
Well.....I am now a firm believer in the deoxit. Sprayed it in the switches and exercised them and the load meter sprung to life and appears to be acting normal. The Gunk brand electrical cleaner did nothing. I could actually see crud coming out of the bottom of the S8 switch tower after...
I honestly don't know, all I do know is she no blinkie so it is not working correctly. You could very well be right that being hooked up to 12V for who knows how long killed it. But I can use a meter. The solar panel itself in our bright FL sun was putting out 30V so I know the solar panel...
Guyfang,
No harm done. I do truly appreciate all of the guidance and help you freely provide here and I very much like your stories of service life. My favorite by the way was the one about the guy being catapulted by the trailer missing the kickstand.

Did it set off warning bells in my head? Honestly......NOPE, not even a faint distant warning beep. Both leads being hooked to one battery is how it came and if the light had been blinking I would not have given it another thought. The light wasn't blinking so did my research and found out...
I have no idea, but that is how the charger came to me connected. It is possible the seller hooked it up wrong as he put the two new batteries in the unit before sale. But I do know it is wired incorrectly according to the manufacturers website. I will put in the link but I think i'm too new...
Triton,
It is military installed as far as I know. Came with the Gen and was siliconed to the top of the unit. Since my Gen is under roof it had to be moved. The unit is a 24VPSC PulseTech 24V Battery Solar Pulse Charger/ Desulfator, 6W or at least that model the control box matches mine but...
I ended up using an old satellite dish mount for the solar panel with a backer made of a piece of polycarbonate hurricane panel connected to the fascia on the house roof. So now I guess the gen is all installed if I can just resolve the issue of the not working load meter.
I also checked the wires going to the elements. Each of the wires all 8 of them are carrying just over 10 amps each so elements are all working. It has to be in the wiring somewhere or the switch or meter itself.
Zed,
My load bank control is a normal breaker box. a column of 3 breakers for each hot. Each side is 2 220 double pole breakers and one single pole 120 breaker. I will keep messing with it. At the moment running the wire down from the roof after installing the solar panel I took off the...
And on the S1 switch after I sprayed it I noticed it was quite a LOT harder to turn. The switch would actually get stuck at preheat. After turning it a few times to every position except start when I did try to start it all I got was a relay click no start. After a few tries it did turn the...
I sprayed gunk electronics cleaner in the switches, is all I had on hand but did order some Deoxit so will try that Monday when it arrives. I spun the AM VM switch at least 50 times each direction but made no difference
I did notice something odd that MAY help someone diagnosis the...
I have a clamp meter and did verify the output, that post is on the first page of this thread somewhere. It was 39.? and 40.? per leg so the output was there the meter just did not agree. At the 39 and 40 amp output per leg the meter was at like 25-30% and should have read close to 100%. That...
I think I am confusing everyone including myself.....so when in doubt, pictures:)
This switch?
Or this switch?
If it is that second one where exactly in that TOWER that it is connected to the back of the switch do you spray exactly?
Hello Daybreak,
In searching a bit ago I did see that. So exercise the switch behind the control panel correct? Tried that turning to all 3 positions a dozen times or so with no luck. I know I am probably not going to like your answer but....for that switch it would require taking the...
That is unfortunate, had hoped there was something I was missing. I can live with a bit inaccurate but off by 50%?? That is just going to bug me. I will see what I can find online as a replacement. Stock or not I don't care about.
