    Another No Voltage thread, MEP-003A

I’ve read through several threads regarding MEP 003a no output voltage and my problem is very similar to several other posts- it worked great every time I used it until one day after charging up my batteries I get no output. The diagnostic steps for the transformers, in-line reactor, and voltage...

MEP002 no fuel to primary pumps

Yes, since I had this same issue with my MEP003A. Try bypassing the first pump and see if you get fuel then. Its also possible you have an air leak in between the tank suction and the lift pump. Have you refilled the fuel tank to 100% and tried priming?

MEP 003A oil filter housing leak

I figure I'll share what I found in case anyone has a similar problem; There was no "smoking gun" leak source- the oil cooler was dry and tight at the top end and just a little slime on the fittings going to the oil filter housing. Upon removing the oil filter housing the gasket was not broken...

MEP002 no fuel to primary pumps

If I'm reading this right you uncoupled the hose from the fuel tank to the first lift pump? Thats on the suction side of the pump so no fuel should come out. Have you checked your filters? Start at the first lift pump after the tank and uncouple the discharge side hose and see if you get...

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

When I went down to a single pump I used two of the #27 washers. I also took out the wire wheel and got both the pump mounting ear and the surface it mates to polished to shiny metal... and that was only 3 days before it started acting up again.

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

I don't disagree with what you've written... I meant to specify that I don't find MY pumps reliable. My dead pump has been disassembled, cleaned, rebuilt and EMI filter removed with no luck. In fact it shorts when connected... zero resistance from the 24V supply to the pump body (ground). My...

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

That comes out to 18 gal/hour or nearly 40 liters/hour. This I'll need to triple check-on. The pump that Green Mountain sells as a replacement (Facet 480517E) pumps 33 gal/hour or 125 liters/hour free flow and pump 6-8 PSI. My experience with most diesel injection pumps is that excess...

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

I guess I don't view the original equipment pumps as reliable. My set came with two... one one dead when i bought it, the other caused my set to stall out a couple times last time I needed it for power. To get it going again I needed to take a wrench and tap on it in order for it start pumping...

MEP 003A oil filter housing leak

I’ll take a look at the oil cooler... I believe it’s up towards the top of the shroud correct? I feel like I got a good view of one side of it when I had the exhaust side sheet metal off to replace a bad overheat sensor...

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

I may be off in my understanding of using 12v batteries in series to achieve 24 volts.... but I've checked my batteries across several terminals with a multimeter while running and while shut down and while I have them wired in series for 24v to the starter stud I've still got 12v across the...

MEP 003A oil filter housing leak

After the latest wind storm my MEP003A got a good 28 hours of continuous use... and during that time discovered that what seems like a "slight" oil leak during test runs can make a God-awful mess over a long period. I've cleaned it and watched the leak enough to know that its not coming from...

    MEP-802a catalytic converted or dpf

As for the original question- there is way too much engineering that would need to be done to get a DPF installed. It would need EGR and additional controls to elevate the exhaust gas temps sky-high to perform regeneration. If you were going to attempt to go through all that trouble I'd...

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

Thanks guys. I couldn't imaging that the original design was not flow-thru- it defeated the point of it being redundant! My set has seen a fair amount of tinkering I'm afraid, so I'm not surprised to find out it has a non-original fuel pump.

How important are the extra fuel pumps? MEP003a

I've been slowly getting my new-to-me MEP003a working and i just finally tracked down a "fish-biting" issue I thought was plugged fuel filters but was actually a dead fuel lift pump. At some point in the machines past the aux-transfer pump disappeared so my unit had only two fuel pumps, and they...

MEP003A Will only run in the "Start" position

Thanks for your help. The charging circuit fuse was blown, however a new fuse didn’t change any symptoms (still no run unless S1 is START and voltmeter is unresponsive for 24v system. Jumping TB5-8 and -9 the unit stays running- so now I know it’s a safety switch. Are there more than the...

MEP003A Will only run in the "Start" position

It appears that the previous owner installed a By-Pass for the Low Oil Pressure Shut-Off in the form of a momentary toggle switch. Its not shown on the TM drawings and that explains why you had no clue what I was talking about. 1. I can hold S1 in the start position all day and the unit runs...

MEP003A Will only run in the "Start" position

I just bought this unit... and it was started and tested in front of me before I bought it and all was fine... all gauges worked. He pulled his batteries, I trailered it home and let it sit for a month before getting around to working on it. I just installed two new batteries and went to test...
