Still got the engine and trans sitting by the truck. I haven't forgotten it I look at it on my way out the door every morning. So here's a couple pics of the new project that's taking up my time.
1. Engine on its way out. 2. Engine resting on bumper waiting for one more adjustment of the hoist. 3. It's out! 4. A new beautiful hole where there used to be 51 year old steel. Glad I pulled it all. When I pulled it the trans was leakin fluid and smelled very badly burnt.
I'll just switch the driverside with the less rusty passengers side for now. I'm gonna talk to my local glass shop and see if they can cut flat laminated safety glass. Both the windows in the k5 shell are intact and I believe they are laminated...hopefully.
I sitting in my truck looking at all the weatherstripping I'm going to replace when I noticed my drivers side windshield frame is rotting out. The only truly rotted thing that I can spot on the truck. Anyway I was wondering if the windshield frames out of an m35 would fit. If they would that...
1. New seat installed on old seat frame. 2. Headlight mounts removed from grill guard for radiator clearance, don't know where I'm installing the new headlights yet. 3. Guard with headlight crap removed. 4. Interior with floor sweptish. You can spot the new weatherstripping I installed. 5...
Today's progress was moving right along this morning. At around 14:00 it hit 80f so I've been ducking inside to stay cool and relax between doing work. Got all the motor and trans mount bolts undone. Got the exhaust out of the way. Cut most of my wiring out of the way (I'm rewiring everything...
Quick update since I haven't done anything to it in so long. Yes I'm still going to be building the truck. No I'm not going to do the 318. One evening after I sold the 318 I was standing on my front porch looking at my m1009 and realized that the 6.2 and th400 with the t-case would be fantastic...
Also I was doing some thinking and realized my donor engine already has working a/c and a power steering pump. I have a power steering gearbox out of a 5ton ford I'll be adding as well.
Measured the frame rails on the dodge to see what I'm going to have to do about using the donor motor mounts. The dodge frame is one inch wider. So what I'm going to do is cut both frame rails on the deuce one inch and box the frame where the mounts go with some half inch plate and weld the...
Tim. The Dodge is 4x4 but the tranfercase is bad. When I do the install I'll be using a 2x4 tailhousing but when I get the money I'm either going to buy an atlas transfer or a Browne 4 speed auxiliary trans. Either way I'll have low low gears.
Silverstate. Thanks I enjoy Winnemucca but it's...
I found some new direction for my project...I have a running 318 magnum plus trans in a 94 Dodge 2500 I bought years ago for parts. Gonna pull the motor and trans from the deuce. Set them aside so I can take my time rebuilding all of it. Then I'm gonna pull the motor mounts from my dodge and...
It is a shame that someone snagged the winch but since I'm in the desert there aren't normally any trees or useable anchor sources to winch from. If I get stuck I'm gonna have to either jack it up with a 20 ton and stick rocks under the tires or just dig it out. I'm going to either go with OD...
I could just take the easier route and use a small sleeper I've got laying around. Then find a cargo bed and shorten it or use a trailer for the bed like all those guys with bobbers. Most of my driving is gonna be far in the desert speed wont exceed 50. Also what does the 220 handle like? Does...
The truck came stock with a shop bed so I don't think it's gonna be too gutless in that respect but I couldn't call myself a man if I didn't at least try for more power...I've got a couple turbos laying around the yard and I might do 6lbs of boost and a little more fuel but I'm not gonna worry...
In an effort to bring the truck into the 21st century I'm going to be doing hid headlights everything else will be l.e.d. I'll be squaring out the holes in the bumper and installing 4 inch square led lights, adding a roof rack and 13.5 inch l.e.d light bars, l.e.d interior lighting, gauge...
The valve covers off cuz it had a sticky valve. I'm going to take the head off and have the valves cleaned up at a machine shop. When I do I'm gonna take a look at my cylinders and if they aren't scarred rusty or dirty I'm gonna leave them alone. If they do have problems I'm going to rebuild it...
