Fuel heater is great thing, atleast here. We have cold winters and even with -27C my 1009 starts and idles fine without block heater.

This should be water in fuel diode. In my 1008 it was burned. Removed it and put straight wire there. I dont remember, was WIF light worked before, but after diode removal light works as should - lights about half second when key in run position...
This " fire starter " resistor block belongs to the glow plug feeding system, it changes 24V to 12V for glow plugs. Your truck has probably direct 12V positive wire from battery?
