Ok, I may have found the issue...did you list your VA address on the VT Reg.? If so then VA may be looking at that address and it's raising red flags. See the link below and read the instructions for "out of state title"

I would not worry...
Hi you still have that M1009? How is the M1008 holding up?
the short story is: Since VT is a "non-title" state you should be able to register your truck in VA, MD ect. with your registration card and proof of ins. and apply for a title in VA since VA is a title state. I did this a few years...
Links work for me..try this:

If not just Google the Vermont DMV and go to the "forms" section.

It's still working Joe (Warthog) just got a clean VT reg. and tags for his truck, last week.
All you need is a bill of sale, and pay the fees. You are NOT applying for a TITLE...this works because VT does not issue titles for trucks older than 15 years. What you are doing is applying for a...

The only thing you...
No VIN verification, I bought it from a dealer then "lost" the assigned dealer title. But it does not matter where you bought it from as long as you have a bill of sale (wherever you get it from).

Worked for me last week. Very easy no issue with VT DMV. told them I was out of state, sent my reg. and tags to my home address. Everything straight up. [thumbzup]

I just used the Vermont DMV to get a title for one of my trucks. I am in Maryland and just sent in a bill of sale and the VT paperwork off their internet DMV site along with a P.O. money order for the taxes and fees. They sent me a VT reg. and tags in about 1 week!!!
