    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Trans is stil in the truck. Is a divorced mounted unit, was not on rear of engine. Yep, to steal words of others, Detroit was the Arsenal of Democracy during WWII when the auto plants were converted to build planes, tanks, engines, etc... Now it’s Hash Bash (Ann Arbor).

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

I’d really like to see it go to support others. There is so much unique hardware on here it is sickening. Trans, transfer case, all controls, pumps, gauges, nozzles, all good. But in the end, she will be hard to move with no axles and not many of thee are personally owned, so will have to...

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

$1,000, which is way below scrap price considering the weight and amount of chassis body pure aluminum. Engine and axles removed. Rest complete and very good condition. Everything moved and worked.

It is. It is in MI. Come have a seat, and take the entire thing home with you.

Not 500hp. I think it was 400hp, which was big time back then. I just lifted the engine out of this fire truck. It is very large and very heavy. Way more than a Cummins Signature 600hp ISX I have sitting next to it, which is many decades newer of course.

Yep, I did video the load and unload. Will do one more of my kids driving it on my property. How often does a 12 year old get to drive a fire truck?

Truck is in route as I write this: She starts, runs, drives, and stops perfect. It will hurt to take it apart. Sucks. Ugh!

It is huge, the size of a small locomotive. All aluminum body. Really nice, zero rust. Catwalks are aluminum as well. This was made when metals were low cost.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Yep, that’s why I bought it. The Cat 1693 engine that the owner is keeping and the 3 air locking 5t/7t axles are the only thing worth any money on it. I’d gladly donate the rest of it for scrap value to the owner of another.

I’m not saving it, but you are welcome to? :)

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Thanks bro. Don’t get me wrong, it is a very emotional thing to do and downright painful. I love mechanized toys. But from the other side, the less of them there are, the more valuable the remaining ones are, and parting one out can further support those causes. Thanks for the info post, I...

    No idea.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Yes, exactly, like the 809’s, but not air like the 939’s are.

    Oshkosh P-4 Fire Crashtruck Preservation

Yep, I know, I get it. And I hate to be that guy. But, everything goes back to where it came from. Everything.

Late to the party, as always. What’s the skinny on this? I just acquired one. Parting it out, need to give engine back to seller, but the rest is mine. She runs and drives. Pics in classifieds, but looks exact same.
