I was actually considering a black interior myself, flat to match the flat od on the truck. I will be installing air conditioning sooner than later and will have no choice but to go with foil back insulation on the firewall, cab back and floors, topped with black vinyl like all 80's Chevy...

What do you mean by hinges? You mean that strip of cotton/felt that goes around the cab cowl hunder the edge of the hood and is held on by screws? I replaced mine with that adhesive foam you can get from Home Depot. This exact size should do it too...

That is your trucks REGISTRATION number, it stays with the vehicle throughout it's entire service life. It is not to be confused with the VIN number which is stamped onto the frame. Have you posted your trucks information in Carnac's VIN thread...

I wonder if you couldn't fabricate up a header for the thing. You'd never have to deal with a cracked manifold again. Ever find out what causes this on all the GMC's? I'd heard it was the timing running too retarded.

It is pretty awesome to think of an internal combustion engine setup to run 100% submerged, it's easy to do on a diesel. But on as gasser, not as easy. But GMC really pulled it off with the threaded spark plug wires and how they put gaskets and seals over every darn thing imaginable.

Aside from some embarrassment the Tcase is probably just fine if there was enough residual oil on the meshing gears to lube them for a quick trip down the road. Make sure you fill up with a yellow metal safe gear oil. :D
