I just wanted to give an update on the transmission situation. I can't find anything wrong with my rebuild so instead going in and out with it a bunch I am just going to save up and get a Monster Transmissions TH400 to put in him. I should be able to order it around May of 2023. At least it...
So after trying multiple things like checking the vacuum, modulator, governor etc. I came to the conclusion I missed something or did something wrong on the rebuild. To my dismay the transmission has to come back out. I'm not giving up though. I'm going to go back through it and see if I can...
It's all good I'll figure it out. Every friction, steel, bearing, and bushing was replaced in it. It was a complete rebuild. I just ordered another torque converter to see if that's the issue. I know everyone one can make mistakes but I was very meticulous while rebuilding that Trans. I just...
When put in drive it seems to shutter or slip as I'm accelerating then it won't shift. I'm starting to think it may be the torque converter. It's a new reman torque converter from Autozone. Is it possible or am I way off base.
Vacuum is fine now that last photo was vacuum at the Trans metal tube. The rubber line between the metal line and the modulator is new as is the modulator.
Been a while since I updated. Got the transmission and transfer case put in yesterday. Pretty down this morning due to getting the fluid topped off and taking him down the road he's not shifting out.
Cut the rust out around the golf ball sized hole and got a patch welded in. That's all the rust holes that I know of patched so now I just have to body fill over the patch areas and sand smooth. I'm not really worried about dents and dings but I am fixing rust and holes to prevent further...
Being on call makes it hard to get to deep into working on anything. I did however get a new blower motor and cage installed which completes the heating. Even though it doesn't get below 20 in middle Alabama much these days that heat is still nice to have below 40 degrees Fahrenheit that's 4.4...
New sway bar bushing kit finally came in. First one got damaged in shipping so they had to send another. Also got the brake lines bled out with fresh dot5. Took the day off work today to sleep after being out on call outs all night. After getting up at 11 I felt like I had to accomplish...
Pretty tired after work today so decided to do a quick job.
I'd say it was time for those to be replaced. That completes the replacement of the rubber brake lines.
Plans to install the Trans got sidelined today due to not getting the transmission jack fixed. The day was not a complete waste though I got a rust hole welded up on the upper passenger side cab corner where the camper shell meets. Down and upside to that is the heat made some bondo crack near...
I have in the past. I have learned that doing things the right way usually goes smoother. Less busted knuckles and expletives. So unless it has to be done immediately I can wait to get the correct tool for the job.
The only jack I have had for about 14 years is a Duralast trolly jack. I keep saying I need to buy a floor jack but when it comes time to work on stuff I spend the money on parts instead. As far as the barn goes I would probably do the same thing you are, or a thick napped roller if it wouldn't...
