ORD Steering Box Brace
Also installed the ORD steering box brace which I've been meaning to do for about a year. Luckily I have no cracks so I dodged the bullet. Brace went in nicely, took me 1.5hrs.
Radiator was leaking so I pulled it. Was considering having it repaired by a local radiator shop that I've had good luck with, but it looked pretty corroded so I went ahead and ordered the Genesis all aluminum one that's been discussed thoroughly here. Fingers crossed.
Went to the Brothers Show and Shine in Anaheim today. 500+ GM trucks from 1947-1987 and I was the one and only CUCV.
Almost everything was lowered with big late-model chrome wheels. Needless to say, my truck did not win any awards. :)...

Added digital voltmeters to monitor the batteries. At startup the bottom one displays the 24V voltage available for the starting system. Not critical, just for the look and for fun. The gauges were a few bucks each off Amazon.
3/4 ton axle swap and surplus 36" on H1s. Now just struggling with pinion angle. Trying to get by with stock driveshafts so I can postpone the CV shaft purchase a bit.
Good luck! I'll be interested to hear if the AC Delcos work. I ordered the Dorman lines for my truck, (625-155 & 624-154), and they did NOT fit. Ended up having the hoses custom made.
I don't, so I've been doing a lot of slow and careful manhandling between furniture dollys and jackstands. Your comment just made me realize that I could probably use a motorcycle jack and make my life a lot easier. So thanks AA!
Getting ready to swap 3/4 ton axles into the m1009. 4.10 gears. Prepped the 14bFF yesterday with new gear oil, gasket and a couple coats of Rustoleum High Performance paint. Going to pull the brakes soon and make sure the drums are in spec and all looks good.
Yesterday I finished replacing power steering and oil cooler hoses on my m1009.I'm a knucklehead, but still, that was challenging.
I'd procrastinated this job, but all of the hoses had Class II leaks and besides making a mess of my pretty engine compartment, I didn't want any of them to fail...
Not great, haha. I enjoy it at low speeds, like high-traffic commuting around town or putting around the outdoors. Also great in the shop. On the freeway trying to compete with this truck, (see cucvrus's post above), it has to be turned up so loud it's just not pleasant. It can work though, and...
Sometimes you want to change the station! :driver:
I got a Altec Lifejacket bluetooth speaker that I use in the M1009 (and all my vehicles since none have stereos). It's advertised as "waterproof, dustproof and shockproof". Even has provisions to mount it, (to the dash for example), but I...
Previous owner threw it in, so unfortunately I don't have a source for you. It wasn't hard to install at all, it just pulls part-way out, rotates a bit and then pulls the rest of the way out. The new one pops right back in. Hardest part for me was figuring that out!
Installed the HD headlight harness from LMC.
Noticeable improvement in brightness and nice peace of mind that my fuse panel isn't bearing all that load.
