So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Outside of the things you’ve already addressed, such as filters, the thing that made the biggest difference was when I had my injectors overhauled. I had tried the cleaners but they weren’t able to get them clean for some reason. Maybe because of the JP8 we had to use in the Army?? Either way it...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

That’s usually what I do no matter what the subject is lol

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I wish that were the case, but I never had the valve cover off before at all so I have no idea how those two bolts came loose in the first place. But I did check them all again, just in case. I also don’t thread bolts all the way in for that same reason. That way, if I get pulled away from task...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Lol yeah, just look on quickserve! 41ft-lbs for those two bolts that came loose on me, now I just need to do the valve lash on the motor and I can put the cover back in place. Of course it took me half the day just to find my 10mm 12pt socket lol

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

That was the whole reason I added a little more excess fuel in the pump, other than that it has been a good truck. I was talking to BD Diesel to look into a turbo replacement that would spool faster and still have the same HP levels. I’m not looking to hot dog my truck, I just want it to spool a...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Trans shifts fine, no downshifting or RPM changes other than slowing down. How does the gov springs effect it if it slows down due to lack of fuel and starts supplying fuel at 55 and accelerates like normal? Gov springs are on the list for this month, probably going to order them today, I'm just...

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

What will cause the pump to not put more fuel in until the truck slows down to 55mph on grades? It does fine once fuel is applied and even accelerates up the grades (minor), it just slows down first even with the pedal to the floor.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Well that was a fail, gonna have to reset it back to what to was and figure out how to set proper timing marks on the crank and then figure out where timing is at right now. ooops, wrong thread

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Thanks for the link, I wasn't sure if the 94-98 was the right year range and was about to ask. I'll order those hopefully in a couple days when I also order the EGT and boost gauge.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I suspected that was the case, I'll have to see where I can find that kit then. I only adjusted the springs to get to 2600-3000 so I could improve highway driving. Hopefully today I can get my timing adjusted to reduce EGTs as well.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Has anyone else had issues keeping a low idle after increasing the fuel rate? Or did I forget to adjust something?

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

Haven't got the EGT gauge yet, I'm getting that in a couple days, which is fine since the truck will stay parked until then anyways.

So who has bumped the power on a 6CTA cummins

I finally pulled the trigger and increased my fuel. I increased gov springs by 2 turns, max load screw by 2.5, and excess fuel by 3. I wanted to adjust the rack travel as well, but I've got one of those tamper proof screws holding the cover on and need to figure out how to remove it first. All...
