    PeeWee's M1009 Build Thread

Well, Solved the Gen 2 gremlin--seems when I replaced the gen 2 relay when I first started having trouble, I had a bad relay out of the box. I replaced it on a whim and, WHOLLA! Got the dash all back together, added some Mossy Oak seat covers, got the floor shifter mod all finished up, and...

    PeeWee's M1009 Build Thread

Since I'm waiting on alternator parts for a few days for my Gen 2 gremlin, I decided to put my B&M Unimatic floor shifter in. It was really simple and the instructions are really detailed. It uses a cable system, so, you can mount it almost anywhere you want... The thing right below the handle...

Ooooh... I also ordered a B&M unimatic floor shifter ($125 shipped with coupon code TRT30 online at Advance Auto Parts--regular price is $173.99!). I decided to do it. I've got an old hand throttle for a Toyota I used to have that I never installed. I'm gonna put that on too... Sent from my...

Tried to fire the beast up last night and killed the Batts trying. I bled the air and primed it good, fixed a teenie-tiny leak or two, but to no avail. Charged up the Batts (I love not needing to physically disconnect them because of the battery disconennects) and tried again this morning--lots...

Got the fuel pump done. I added a normally on switch in the engine compartment that I can turn off, turn the ignition on, open up the bleeder, then, turn on the switch when I'm in position to catch fuel. It's also a nice security feature, if I wish to use it that way... Had to modify the mounts...

I also made a handy-dandy binder for maintenance records and receipts, notes, references from the Sticky, common procedures, cheat sheets, electrical diagrams, and an ever-evolving parts list...

Pic 7 is the relay I added for the fuel pump. It says install no more than 12 inches from the fuel tank--that ain't happening. It'll be more like 36", but, downhill from the tank in the frame rail... Here's the link for the Front End/Rear end swap...

Jeez... Thought I should update this... --Dealing with a gen 2 gremlin --Swapped the front and rear end for 3/4 ton 3:73s (14 bolt SF rear) out of a 3/4 ton '90 Suburban after my driver's side rear axle broke --New Rancho 5000 shocks --Replaced ALL fusible links (except the glow plug ones)...

Been a while since I did anything, and I had some electrical issues, so, I figured I'd install the circulating heater I bought. It's a Katz 1500W and it works great. I teed into the lower radiator hose and into one of the heater hoses. That 2"x2"x5/8" tee sucked to find, but I finally found it...

Threw in some new Glow Plugs last night...That was fun. Actually it wasn't bad. The only minor inconvenience was that I had to change all of the connectors to 1/4" female connectors because the old ones were too small. I went with the AC Delco 60Gs. The beast had been starting pretty rough in...

Thank you Warthog and 1 ton...I will look into doing all of those things. One question to Warthog...because I like to know the 'why' behind things, I am wondering what the rationale behind rotating the driveshaft 180 degrees is. In other words, what am I looking for in doing so and how come...

Figured I better do one of these, more to chronicle it for myself than for everyone else, but I like constructive criticism, advice, and feedback. Budget is tight and I'm a family man, but I definately have the green disease. I'm hooked. This is my daily driver, so, I like some creature...
