  1. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

Thanks for the intel. This truck does still have it's PTO lever but the linkage end of it that sits above the transmission is just dangling there not connected to anything.

    Ok...thanks for the confirmation!!!
  3. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

Wait...just to clarify....are you saying this is a factory "Single Axle" Tractor or was it a Dual Axle that was Bobbed? Just looks like the rear framing is factory. Please let me know what your assessment is.

  6. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

Can anyone help with this mystery? Trying to determine if the truck I have is an M54, 52 or 51. Original single axle from factory or "bobbed"?
  7. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

Calling all experts! Here are the indicator pics that I will hope help you in determining whether this is a M54, M51, or M52. The rear pics of frame show it to be very clean almost factory which leads me to believe that this could have been a rare single axle 5 Ton which they did make...
  8. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

Interesting....you say that because the area on the transmission where the PTO would mount looks super clean as if there was never a PTO mounted. The cover plate looks untouched. However the truck has a front winch assembly. I'm going to get pics of the truck and post them for further...
  9. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

I will be getting a few key indicator pics and post them for your review/assessment to confirm! Thanks again!!!!

WOW!!! Awesome intel!! Thank you for your time and generosity in sharing your knowledge with me!!!
  11. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

Thanks NDT, how come the 9524188 series ID#'s are limited on the list? Is it because this is the only list that exists that has recorded ID's or is there a more exhaustive/complete ID list that exists that I can get my hands on? All my paper work says year 1973? I couldn't find my full...
  12. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

The VIN is listed as 9524188XX. I changed the last two digits to "XX" hoping that is not needed to determine whether its a M54, 51 or 52. I look forward to replies.
  13. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

It very well could be...but the motor, frame work and cab are matching accurate. I'm just trying to decide what it's original designation was...i.e....M54 Cargo, M51 Dump, or M52 Tractor.....OR H57....lol!
  14. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

I will get you pics but there is definitely what appears to be a crossmember used as an "end cap" which sits in between the two frame rails.
  15. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

It does have a front winch set up but strangely the Transmission mounted PTO and front shaft are missing. I will get better pics for you all and post them. I'm leaning towards a dump or tractor and not a cargo.
  16. Q

    1973 M54 or M51???

I have what I thought was a lifted bobbed M35 but it turns out to be a bobbed M54 or M51 5 ton series. I'm not sure which. I have about a 20" gap between the trailer bed and cab with mounting plates and capped (hydraulic/air) lines? The previous owner attached an ammo box on each one of the...
