As for the pooling of water, one thing we used to do is put ply-wood on top of the bows. You will need to use thin sheets for a cargo compartment as the bows aren't as strong as the pillars of a vehicle. Just figured I would put that out there.
I just got done doing a bunch of stuff. I replaced my dimmer switch. Installed a new horn as the truck was missing it when I bought it. Did the Doghead starter relay mod. I replaced the wiper blades. Lastly I installed the bracket for a fire extinguisher.
Cucvnut, the battery has probably not been accepting a new charge for a while; it just took however long for it to get discharged before you noticed it.
Took out my 09' today, put fuel in it and drove to the local 4 wheel parts; unfortunately they didn't have the smitty build seat covers in stock so I have to order them :(
If he's removing I'm sure it's easier. We just used a ratchet strap and tankers bar to install them. I'm pretty sure that no matter what you do it's going to be a pain I the ass.
I finally cleared out enough space in my garage for my 1009, with that my 24v battery tender arrived in the mail today so I can insure that my batteries are up to snuff when I take her out.
I drove my 1009 just under 300 miles to Camp Roberts and back this past weekend with no problems averaging about 75 MPH. Great truck, other than the extreme road noise.
From what you are saying I think going back stock would be the best option for you. Personally I plan on only doing maintenance and bolt on mods to my truck as I would like to keep it as stock as possible.
