Interesting place to put the ammo can. Does your truck have the mount on that location? Mine has a pad(?) or mount or something or other. I greatly dislike to previous location of the fire extinguisher (under the seat) so I mounted it there. Sorry, I'll post a pic later on. Now if there's a...
Speedo and odo quit because normally the speedo cable dries out (must be greased regularly) and shear off somewhere between the dash and the tranny. Instead of trying to get the cable off the back of the dash; you almost have to pull the drivers seat to get to it, disconnect it at the tranny...
Went to next town over to get a new ladder for the M35s. Contrary to any belkief, M35 vs M109 ladder equals flat ladder and didn't even know i did it. Replacement ladder was solid steel and weighed a ton. Couldn't lift it. It was sitting real near a CUCV tailgate ladder, same price...
Once you get in there have a copy of the page out of the parts manual as well as the section of the TM covering the removal and replacement of the parts. That way when you go to put it back together, you'll have the knowledge in front of you. I will state that it is almost impossible to put it...
Pull the fan out of the heater shroud. Same thing happened to the wifes car. The fan is either internally seized and shorted or something is blocking it from turning. Either way, too much juice is getting drawn and you'll never get a fuse to hold. Also, I completely removed the entire guts...
Looks real good! I had to go another route. My M1009 has some rust damage (some real bad) all over the floor. I'm going to have to get a shop to repair the damage. Untill money comes available, I got an OEM floor mat. Makes it look much better and when I finally get the new floor, I'll just...
Looks real good! I am not a welder, probably would burn the all metal barn down if I tried. Did you make the plate yourself or did someone else make it for you? I'd like to put a winch on the M1009 but didn't have an idea of how to do it till your picture was posted.
Thanks
Jeff
Just pulled the M1009 into the barn for the final go over for the Armed Forces Day display. I've got to straighten the front bumper, get the excess fuel filter manifold wiring under control (got rid of the box filter but keeping the wiring). paint the body, install the CB radio/antenna, remove...
Installed new blackout lights in front, Thanks Popacom! Made a new blackout light bracket from scratch (missing) and installed one of the back lights. I'll finish up the other back one tomorrow.
Completed installation of all pintle hook parts. What a pain in the pahtooty! Fortunately my hardware was sufficien..didn't have to buy any bolts. Gonna have to find the darn drill bit sharpener. Dulled every one of my 1/2 inch bits building the cross bar that runs across under the pintle...
Do you still have the plate installed under the tank? For that matter is the Pintle hook nightmare still installed? If so, I felt your pain. All my chaffing strips fell apart as well and had to get new ones. Thankfully NAPA has sheets of gasket material that is the exact length...
Sounds like a good spot to me. It'll tuck right in there between the fuel can and the truck side. Good find! You wouldn't happen to know if there are any more of those good deals out there would you?
