Thanks again for keeping me up to date on the alternator. The red primer is fine if you like red. Civy trucks didn't have any paint at all or just a very light coat of black paint from the factory. Personally I would just get a couple cans of spray paint OD Green or flat black and just give it a...

The red indicates primer. Your axles were replaced at some point and not painted! Let me know how your alternators work out for you. If they work out I will order two for myself. Thanks, Dwayne

It should up shift from first to second at about fifteen mph indicated and from second to third about twenty five mph indicated. Linkage has nothing to do with auto up shifting. It is a vaccuum issue. Start at the vaccuum pump. Disconnect the rubber hose and see if you are getting vaccuum. Then...

Thanks, I have been looking for a spare and I heard horror stories about getting the wrong one! I have been running Dexcool, the orange for two years now with no problem. You just need to make sure no green stuff is left in the system. Thanks again, Dwayne

Mine had the same problem, except after I tighten it up it still had the sound. Looked again and the front inside corner was rubbing the frame. Thanks to GL forklift the plate is bent and I was unable to bend it back in place. So I slit a two inch piece of fuel hose and slid it onto the shield...

No problem just here to help! The nuts holding on the spindle are one time use. I got mine at ace hardware. Do not use nylocks because of brake heat can melt the nylon. The rest is fairly simple. If you have a TM or a mid 1980's Chevy repair manual, it helps. I replaced all the bearings and the...

What have you done to your CUCV today/lately? - Part 1

I bought a three inch piece on 7/8" hex stock at my local metal supply store used a socket a breaker bar and a piece of pipe about six feet long over the breaker bar to get the king pins to break loose. The socket for the wheel bearing nut I bought at napa. You need it to torque the bearings...

Why not leave the pintle hitch and just add a receiver hitch.

Don't feel bad I didn't even know these parts existed until fairly recently! I can't take the credit someone else on steel soldiers had it posted.

M1031 mods Did a few mods over the weekend to my M1031. Made and installed a ladder to gain access to the roof, installed two flag poles, fixed an annoying rattle move the fuel tank shield away from the frame, and installed a 12 volt remote jump station so I can charge batteries to jump start...

You can buy them new at autozone. About $25 for the ignition and $20 for a set of two door locks! Ignition key and door keys are different just like on a civy truck. Square for ignition round for the doors.
