Finally got (re)started on the old girl.
First thing was to remove the bed (unfortunately I didn't weigh it)
Then I started taking windshields apart to see which one was better and what pieces I could use to make one good one.
Once I got as far as I could on those, I moved to the...
After a hiatus to knock out the M715, I've taken the next step needed to get going on Ethel again:
The plan is to get the engine humming, then do brakes etc, then body. Basically work my way out.
I'll update as I progress. It'll probably be in June that I hit it heavy. I have to get Bertha...
Yes it was. The seller kept that.
Right now Ethel is on hold until I finish the M715 as the M715 was closer to "done", and I'm going to have to completely go through Ethels engine, brakes etc before I start reassembly.
Pulled the bell housing and transmission today and pressure washed the engine to prep for cleanup/paint. Found a rotted out freeze plug, so that's next on the hit list!
Also uncovered her cast marks on the block and found a data plate!
And on a side note:
I am **so** glad I wasn't...
Couple of things done the last few days.

The tool tunnel:
The fuel can holder
And the spare tire carrier. (Its the OG bed spare carrier, not the "new" (and...

Today was carburetor day... after bugging everyone I knew, I figured out some stuff...
She was in rough shape.... soaking it in the carb cleaner for a few days...
While waiting for the head gasket, I went ahead and prepped the fuel tank/removed the old sending unit and pickup (they were showing every day of their age).
and used the gauge cluster @harptheblues was kind enough to pay forward and went ahead and prepped and prepared the instrument...
Whew... where have I been?
I've been busy as all get out working on the old girl. I would drop my kid at school, go to the shop and work until he got out of school, go home, shower, eat and crash then do it again.
Here's the big update, it may take several posts...
Honestly the timeline is...
This past Thursday was "try to fire" day. Good hot batteries, a little ether and we tried.
One cylinder fired. Pulled the plugs to check compression and cylinder 3 was the only one showing us love.
Generous amount of Marvel into the cylinders and let it set over night.
Friday, after several...
Waiting for crew change in two days so I can work some more on her.....
My lady @IRIS_Always let me know the pile of "stuff" (not her word) is getting ridiculously big...
