Just an update I put a 100% load on her and adjusted the droop and got her pretty good. (drops 1-2 hertz at 100% load) also doesn't drop nearly as much with the saw. The DC charging system was not working but it was just a blown fuse. Running for about half an hour so far at 100% load.
As far...
My miter saw is a large dewalt 15 amp saw. And It only drops 3-4 hertz. I did have another question, when I start it and after it starts and I hold the switch to let it build oil pressure I can still hear the starter engaged. (grinding) Normal?
Yeah I just went and messed with it a little and put the voltage at 240 and hertz at 61 and started my miter saw off of the convenience outlet. She barks a little and the hertz dropped to 55 or so but she came right up. I gotta get a load bank setup and run her through her paces next week I guess.
Well I sourced a spring and my patience for my gaskets that got lost in the mail is gone so I used my new filters and the old gaskets on the fuel filters and started her up. Started in about 15 seconds and seems to run great. Oil pressure gauge is pegged wondering if that's normal? I set it at...
This is a totally newb. ? but does the paper (cardboard) on the fram ch6pl filter supposed to be removed prior to installation? Seems like a really dumb question but I never ran into this before.
EDIT.....After reading through the TM I see that I am missing the spring, retainer, and gasket out...
WEll I went and got her and I am pretty happy. Tier 2 reset in 07 and only 9 hours since the reset (if the gauge is correct). Good compression and whoever drained the fluids took care to put everything back and tape all openings (and battery terminals). Also wrote "no filters" on all of the...
Thanks for the help. I figured it was from the middle east but was hoping otherwise. At any rate I will have more questions after I get it and thanks for answering all of my questions.
Considering that you can't touch a 5-8 kw diesel generator for anything close to that I don't feel too bad. Supposedly just gone over with a new starter. Hour meter reads 9 hours.
One question I have is, is there a difference between the "tan" mep002's and the "green" mep002's?
Edit 002. (sorry for the mistake)
I would love to have gotten an 003 for that price. This is just to get me started, I would like to get an 003, or 803 in the near future. I will not be paying this much for an 002 any time soon though. Just pray it works out for me.
Well I am the proud owner of a 002. I paid premium price (overpaid) for it but was willing to take the gamble because the shape looks pretty good. Paid 1280 but with 10% added on plus sales tax it will be over 1400 plus fuel to pick it up. If it works it will be more than worth it to me.
As far as the 24v charging issue, I guess a work around for that could be just to use a regular trickle charger on it. Or a 120v charger that works off of the generator?
There is a large lot of 802A's coming up as well. Thought about purchasing 2 of them but I don't know much about them, such as if the parts from the different ones (fermont, libby, etc...) are interchangeable.
Im in the research stage and have a few questions. I plan on purchasing through governmentsurplus and have been looking at the different models. I narrowed what I want to an MEP-002a or MEP-802a. It seems like the older JR Hollingsworth models fetch more money than the newer libby and fermont...
