Hey ! You've got a lot of knowledge to share ! Don't let age get you down ! Your only as old as your mind thinks you are ! Since I cannot remember how old I am most of the time I lean towards the young side !
Yeah. I believe now after tearing into all these pumps you had the correct solution all along. Unless I had actually seen it on several pumps I would not have believed the plunger could stick like that. Now I know better. I should have listened to your years of experience here "Floridianson" ...
That is about the only thing that would do it. Under normal operation, that button never leaves the cam piston. The plunger spring keeps constant pressure on it. So if the plunger sticks or gets sticky and allows the button to loose contact with the piston it could fall off.
I have come up with a new theory as to why we loose the clips. When the deuce is allowed to set for long periods the old diesel fuel gets gummy and causes the plunger to stick in the bore. Then when you go to start it up, the first time the plunger hits the top of it's bore it sticks and looses...
That's good news David. I've finished cleaning up my 6 injection pumps and found enough good parts from the six to make 3 good pumps. I got my rebuild parts from AMBAC and started today with the "booster" pumps. Hopefully by the time I'm assembling the Hydraulic Heads the clips will be done !
Yes it is worth it. If you ever have to change out the Hydraulic Head even once for a bad clip then you would know what we mean ! Considering the newest of our trucks are at least over 3 decades old then those clips will be a failing soon !
Hey David. Why don't you work up an estimate for all of us, to see how much demand there would be ? I know I would like to get at least 3 for myself. You can never have to many spares ! Remember two is one, and one is none .
