    Burma Jeep, Ford GTB, G622

The GTB is very rare. I would reconsider. Just my opinion.

If there is no winch it is possible that it is a converted cargo truck. If the left side step is only the length of the cab it is probably a cargo truck as the gas tank won't allow the extended step. However, the good news is that this is one of the few differences and it could still be restored...

I feel certain that it is a bomb service truck but can't actually tell. It has the boom but can't see the passenger step or the front winch. It does have the boom winch which is difficult to find along with the trolley winch. If you can get it, it's in much better than mine when I started. Lots...

On the other subject of modifying the GTB's by adding another kind of bed, etc. I am not a purist, but I believe that since these vehicles are so rare, I hate to see them modified for other uses. That is just my opinion.

All of the GTB's were lusterless olive drab when they left the factory and stayed the same until after they were commissioned. When they entered service, the Navy painted most of them gray or gray-blue after that. I have heard that the Navy wanted their vehicles to match their battleships. I...

I don't know when they will be done, but I know the buyers will pay one heck of a lot less than I did for mine. Please pass the word to any other owners you know. I'll post again when they are ready.

GTB restoration and making parts I recently restored a 1943 Ford GTB Bomb Service Truck. If you are also doing so, you are aware of the difficulty in finding parts for them as they are an unusual vehicle and there are not enough of them around for most of the big companies to make parts for...

The original fenders were smooth all over and had "dimples" or raised grooves on the back end of the fender. Also, be careful with the engine. Mine had a "civillian" straight 6 Ford engine in it, with the distributor on the rear of the engine. It poked through a hole somene made in the...

GTBC Bomb Service Truck I am attaching a before and after picture of my 1943 Ford GTBC Bomb Service Truck. You can see tat it was a real junker. The only reason I decided to restore it was that it had all of the winches, hoists, and the wrecker frame. I hd the most trouble finding the trolley...

When I restored my GTBC Bomb Service Truck, I used the proper wood used on them- Cypress. It will not rot if kept dry.
