1008 Fuel Bleedoff Issues

I bought a nice 1008 last year and have had trouble with fuel bleedoff since I got it home. I ended up parking it last year due to the trouble I had with it, but I am now trying to resurrect it for hunting season.

Long story short when I go to start it after it has been sitting for days it fires right up then dies approximately 5-10 seconds later. Then you have to crank it over for 45-60+ seconds to get it to run again. After that it runs like a champ.

I installed a new lift pump. Nothing changed.

I installed a check valve in the fuel return line right by the lift pump where it turns into a hard line to go back to the tank. Nothing changed.

I have now installed another check valve in the supply line right before the lift pump where the hard line becomes a rubber hose. This actually resulted in a slight change. Now the truck was a little harder to start initially, then it ran for the normal 5-10 seconds and then died. Another 45 seconds of cranking on it and it runs fine.

Please help. I'm clueless as to where to go next.

Im not sure of the fix, but i will warn you that that much cranking can damage your starter

Look for leaks in any of the rubber lines

Will fuel come out of the fuel filter bleeder after the truck dies?
