There is no doubt that the 800 series tractors are workhorses.

Years ago at Fort Benning we loaded a narrow guage box car (had been used as a line shack in a motor pool) onto a 35 foot lowbow and hauled it to DRMO.

It was an old boxcar the had the metal frame on the outside.

When the crane picked it up the tires on it bulged way out.....he could not swing it so I backed the lowboy under it. The guy running the crane said the 5 ton would never pull it.

I told him "Don't worry about the mule being blind....just load the wagon."

I knew we were heavy because I never got out of low range.

I wasn't worried about acceleration.....stopping was on my mind.

We had an MP escort all the way to DRMO.

When we crossed the scales at DRMO the weight ticket said 102,000 pounds......the LT that was in charge of the operation like to have chit.

my 818 weights 28k by itself.

I just had my M818 weighed. It was either, 19640 or 20640 can't remember for sure) 1 fuel tank full, one empty. no winch.

What do you have on yours that makes it so heavy? 3.5 tons more.

Surely, those big tires each don't weigh 1000# more than an 11.00-20 ndt.

Glad to see I am not the only one so inclined... We have 2 Diamond Z 1463 Grinders... tipping the scales new at 92,000 pounds... after some "detailing"... and with an extra pair of screens in the tub as well as a tandem axle dolly (also inside)... 103,000+/-... well, we needed to go 5 miles from one job to the other in farm country... backed the 818 under the z (oh yeah... pumped the tires up to 100psi) and off we went 30-40mph all the way... at the destination, we had to bring it into a field that was a bit soft... had to put the truck into Grunt-Grunt and had no issues. Gotta love an 818 and gotta love a Z... probably the finest grinder made... being a friend for over 20 years of the family that designed it and built it in Idaho, I can only attest to it's ingenuity and productivity that is to date unmatched in the market... just my 2 bits

Oh yeah... when you do something as stupid as what I did, make sure you hang a few of those "slow moving ag triangles" as well as the wide load signs... It was a blast to watch that truck "snort" down the highway.

I've got everything including the kitchen sink on this truck. including full dual artic heater system, RT radio system, turbo system, big tires, gun ring, winch, deep water kit, Detroit's in both rears, and lots more. I've had it on a set of cat scales as well as 3 others. all within 500lbs of each other.

I wouldn't be so sure. those tires are really heavy.

what does (1) 1100 with rim weight? I'm pretty sure 1 1600 on combat rim weights 450-500lb with the beadlock insert installed.

I gained around 1,000 lbs when I put the 16's on my 818. I am a little under 21k on the scales.
Otherwise stock truck though, and no winch.
I know my 16's on HEMTT rims are about 515 lbs each. No inserts.

Oh yeah, there are 10 stock rims/tires, and only 6 of the super singles. So that makes a difference as well. And those stock tires are not exactly light either.

J Waller, regardless of the details, thanks for the original post, I'm impressed. I have 2 818s and 1 915A1 and haven't used any of them for anything so far. But now I know what they can stand up to. JT out

thanks JT. I only meant the post as a guide to others as to what the trucks can do. I'm pretty well versed on the why's and how's of what went on with my move and I'd do it again any day, it's my truck and I had a blast doing it.

Yeah, I think if you limit the speed, these trucks can really pull their weight!
I mean, with that kind of gearing, you are going to have plenty of power to pull some seriously heavy weights.

Good to see the trucks getting used.
