I picked this up today at Kirtland, something in a couple of the pics caught my eye, :-D I can only hope it's not mileage plus 100k..... :|

The Motor is going in my 1028A3, and the rest. . . maybe a BBC to take the 6.2's place?

I can barely see the shifter position indicator, but does that thing have a TH400? Is it 2wd?

Edit, just noticed your link, it is a 2wd and 3 speed!

Don't know, HOPING for a 700R4, and all the associated brackets , I have a built 700R4 from Bowtie Overdrives that would fit nicely in the 1028!

It's 2wd

First time I looked at the auction, I thought, no way, an aftermarket turbo on a Gov ride?, and then, who else will recognize it....

But those were a dealer installed option right?
Dealer and customer installed! It's a nice ride. In my opinion it lacks only 3 things from being perfect. 1) 4 wheel drive, 2) 3rd seat and I forget the 3rd. I wish like the dickens my burb had panel doors in the back. Tailgates on burbs suck. Perhaps one day I'll attempt that swap.

The Banks turbo would only have been Installed by a dealer if you bought it and brought it to them to install that burb should have a T400 under it never heard of GM/Chevy putting a T350 Behind the 6.2 The 700R4 is electronically controlled and would only work behind the 6.5 turbo from the factory . Not meaning to Highjack but anyone interested I posted a suburban With A 6.2 and four wheel drive on the classifieds earlier today all it really needs is a Tranny (T400) and some batteries and totally road worthy. ALL offers and trades entertained!

Not wanting to cause a fuss but there were some dealers installing Banks kits on new trucks and selling them that way. Another point, the 700R4 is not electronically controlled, the 4L60E is the version that is electric. I've had many a 6.2 with the 700R4 behind it. Oldest was a 1984 1/2 ton and my current 91 Suburban has the factory 6.2 with the 700R4. I also have a 94 K3500 but it has the 6.5 and the 4L80E. Headed to the classifieds!

I have an 83 6.2 burby 4x4 with a 700R4 from the factory. The half ton diesels got the 700, the 3/4 and 1 tons got the 400. I THINK the 1/2 tons had an option for the 400, but I'm not sure.

The 700R4 is not electronically controlled. It has very simple wiring for the TC lockup, that's it. The first time it went electronic was when they turned it into the 4L60E in the mid 90s.

Later,
Joe
