11.0-20 NDTs on a deuce, good idea?

I have been thinking about stepping up to 11.0-20 tires on my deuce. The military NDTs for the 5 ton seem to be pretty inexpensive. Am I correct to think that I can run these as duals in the back, gain a mph advantage on the top end and a bit of an advantage off road?

What would be the draw backs? I know the modern radial 11.0r20s would likely be better off road, but how would the old school NDTs perform? How much taller and wider are the 11.0-20 NDTs compared to the stock 9.0-20s?

The only draw-back I could see would be if you carry heavy loads often or very far. Heavyly loaded the sidewalls could touch at the bottom and creat heat.

Plenty of room.The radials bulge out much more than the Bias NDTs.I have the radials dualed on my deuce and they are far from touching.I have a S280 filled with all kinda deuce parts(about 2 deuces worth of body parts).So I am heavy.The NDTs are about an inch and a half taller than the radials so you will lower your RPMs even more with Bias than radials.You really won't get any more MPH since you run outta horse power before RPMs.Atleast on my truck that is how it is with the XLs.I maxed out at 61MPH via the GPS.Before that I could bury the speedo at over 65MPH but was also pushing deep into the red zone on the tach(yea,someone messed with the governor a little before it was surplussed).

From the FAQ on deuces section:
Stock NDT 900X20 (36 X 20)
Largest Tire on stock wheels 1100X20 (43 X 20)

If those numbers are correct that would increase top speed by about 10mph at max rpm. I'd like to do the same if funds are unavaliable for singles.

Yep, I think this is the route I am going to head in.

Maybe down the road I can upgrade to them big sexy singles
on custom rims....but for now I think I'll go low buck.

anyone have a pic they can post of a Deuce with

11.0-20 NDTs on it so I can see what she'll look like?

Someone told me a while back you would notice a significant reduction in torque if you mounted larger tires on a deuce. ????

Regardless of what someone put in the FAQ list

900x20 are not 36" diameter, well maybe if they were completely bald :roll:

The theoretical size would be 38" yet most I've measured are close to 41" tall

I have 11 1.00R20 XL's to put on once I save up the money for new tubes. :cry:

I think they look alot better on 11X20s, and I put the NDTs the forestry service had on my M211 onto my M35. I seemed to get better MPG and top speed, but it may have been just me. I did have the truck turned up slightly and could get 65mph (gps reading) at 2600 rpm.

I would love to get the XLs to put on my truck, but can't afford them anytime soon. :cry:
