11th Bombardment Squadron 1930's pix

Finally got my grandfathers pictures scanned of his squadron the 11th Bombardment Squadron & the ID plate of his Curtis B2, some interesting old photos of early aviation. This is just a few to start

Amazing how aviation went from open cockpit biplanes in 14 years to this:

They flew cross country from Langley to San Francisco, all granddad ever mention about flying was the relief missions to the Indian village and dropping hay out of the bombers. The picture of the 3 men, the first on the left is my Grandfather not sure who the other two are

I have a strong suspicion your photo #5 in the first post is Balboa Park, San Diego. The image is taken looking northeast. The Naval Hospital is just below center. The bridge under the aircraft is the Prado, leading into the site of the California Exposition of 1919.

I believe Curtiss had a fleet of seaplanes in San Diego, but I am no historian.

Not sure there is no description location on that picture, some interesting round building in the lower right of the pix, I'm sure it doesn't look like that today

The writing on the roof of the hangers in the second picture of post 3 says Los Angeles airport, is that now LAX?
