120 psi gauge connections

I replaced my 60 psi oil pressure gauge with a 120 psi. I must confused as to the wire connections. Does the #27 wire (from the spider harness) go to the ribbed connector of the smooth connector?

I can't remember right now but, if you look at the rest of the power wires from the spider harness behind the gauge panel, they should all be going to the same side/connector of each gauge (ribbed or not ribbed), then you will know which side gets power and which side gets the sender unit.

On all of mine, the power is on the driver's side of the gauge, as it is installed in the dash.... Glen

The problem I have is that they were flip flopped between the 60 and 120 gauges. At least that is what I remember. I check under the dash again.

I didnt mean the physical side of the gauge, I meant the side with or without the ribs.

Most of our gauges actually say "IGN" on the side of the gauge for the #27 circuit

Doghead, I did what you suggested and made a note of the spider harness connections to each gauge. I tried this with my 120 psi gauge and it did not work. I reversed the connections for the 27 wire (spider) and the 36 wire from the sender. Voila, it worked and I do indeed have oil pressure. I remember noting that this was opposite from the 60 psi gauge I removed. Go figure!!!

The "ribbed" connector is from the sending unit.
If you happen to be looking at the PS magazine article showing the connections, it is in error (one of the few errors I have found).

Cranetruck, while it may appear to be an error, my 120 psi gauge (purchased from White Owl Trucks) connects just like the PM in order to function. Not sure why but that is how it is. Maybe the manufacturer read the PM

In the picture shown in the PS magazine, they ribbed the wrong terminal.
