I recently acquired a 1953 xm211. It was found last year in the woods by developers who were clearing land for a subdivision. it was parked with 7 or so other random trucks. They were all headed for scrap until my friend bought them all. It sat at his house for about a year until i finally bit the bullet and bought it. We are guessing it has been sitting between 20 and 30 years. Most of the over haul tags are from 1964 and 1967. Luckily it still rolls and only the cab has some severe rot. But the frame and bed are still good. The motor was seized from sitting but i pulled the head and sent it off for a rebuild and managed to get the engine unstuck and turning over. Im going to be in it far more than its worth but there is a certain satisfaction from saving something like this and i have no plans to get rid of it.

I have to finish my M135 first...but once its done, I know of where another one is at that I will be buying for the frame for the G-7123 COE that is in my avatar and it has a well used CA desert body that might help you out if you are in no rush as Mine has to run and drive before I pick it up! Might be a long awhile but an option for you.......

Yesterday Tatertot and I had a good visit. Turns out we live about 5 miles from each other. I looked at this truck when it was for sale and passed. He is on the right path fixing this one up!

We visited my place where he got to see my parts trucks.

I know I will be helping him out with parts but the hoarder in me saying ‘what are you thinking’, but you can’t keep this stuff forever.

Do we have a launch date? You're moving along fast so really looking forward to hearing her run. It's good to see you're surrounded by some of the best G749 company a guy could find. Sturmy knows where to find parts!

Historical research on her movements from the 50's would have been nice to have and if I come across anything else I'll post it here.

There were a couple of trucks that were close although it's difficult to tell if the numbers are authentic to some trucks. One right here on page 22 with 95678.... https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?58040-The-unofficial-g749-picture-thread/page22

One historical shot here of what looks like an M135 with Inchon fire dept. 94547 2/3 down this page. http://www.vintagemilitarytrucks.com/No64_6x6_1952_GMC_XM211.htm

Some of the other folks might be able to tell us if the 411 number series were consecutively numbered and sent overseas or how that Inchon era was numbered. It does lead to a possibility that some of the Korean albums might have a picture of your truck in it.

We can all chip into this thread and get more historical data locked down. https://www.steelsoldiers.com/showthread.php?134364-G749-VIN-amp-Military-Registration-Database

Thanks for the update and keep the pics coming.

I never thought I'd meet someone on this site that lived so close. Thank you for having me over to check stuff out. Hopefully we can work something out on some parts!

Finish date will be a few months. I currently don't work and stay afloat with side jobs. Used my taxes to buy this truck lol. Hoping to get a few things done in the next couple weeks so I can get the oil and coolant lines remade and pick the head back up from the machine shop. I put the oil pan back on the other day so the bottom end is ready to go. I hope!

So much of the work on them is just labor, taking them apart, cleaning and reassembling. Seeing another one get some attention makes me think I like cleaning them up as much as I like owning a clean one.
Time off and good weather is a unique combination so enjoy that time and keep the progress pics coming.
