Hello New to this site and new owner of a 1977 Deuce.

Would like a how-to about the removal the the cab from frame.
Deuce has been sitting in the weeds for about 20 years when she broke a connecting rod.

I would take a look at the Deuce Tm to start as it will show you a view of alot of the parts and pieces. Also type in to the seach box to see if something pops up.

You can find and download all the TM's at the top of the forums. You can also download them for free from the NSNcenter.com. this site is full of great information but not always easy to find using the site's search feature. I have better luck doing a Google search which usually finds the threads here mostv relevant to your inquiry.

More than a few members have done a cab off frame restoration, just google it here to find a few of them. Good luck with your new to you truck restoration, sounds like you have a large project in your future.

Refine this a bit and go to the deuce forum and on the upper right side next to "thread tools" is a button to "search forum" use this search to keep your search specific to searching deuce threads.

To remove the cab. First take off the hood and fenders . It’s also easier if you remove the steering box. Either way the steering wheel has to come off. . Disconnect front wiring harness and a few airlines .Then remove 4 bolts holding it on and off she goes.

Thanks for the reply.

Sounds simple enough, except the part about the steering box, hard to remove with the engine still installed.

You don’t have to remove the steering box but it makes it easier to lift the cab and reinstall. If the box stays in you have to lift the cab quite high to clear the steering shaft.

The shaft is a integral part of the box and the does not come out without major disassembly.

you can loosen the motor mounts and jack the engine up a little to remove the steering box
