Hey everyone just got my first MV, a 1990 M923A2 and am looking for any tips tricks or advice, and in this case an answer to a specific question. I want to get the motor oil out of the trans and get good fluid in it. I know I need to do a double flush, and replace all filters. My question is which filter do I need to the pan and how to I change it? I saw another member post about a NAPA #1892 kit for is A1, will this be the same for my A2? And which fluid is best to use? Also I plan on taking this vehicle 1500 miles from Maryland to Kansas in a couple months, what all would you suggest I check/replace before undertaking this endeavor? Thanks in advance!

All the M939's transmissions are almost the same thing so use the Napa pan filter just like I did it comes with a gasket your going to need it.. Second the fluid question has been asked countless times Allison would have you put there best stuff in (transynd). You can use dex 3 or and 10wt oil with a Allison C-4 rating also some people use 15W-40 in there's. To remove the pan filer drain the pan, remove the pan ( your going to need a big oil pan or a lot of rags) remove the pan filter... and remove that plastic hose and inspect the rubber O rings on both sides replace as need be. then put it all back the same way. make sure to read the tms also there's a bolt tighting guide for the pan in there. good luck.
