Looking for your thoughts on the severity of the damage...whats missing...reasoning behind this...Is there a down and dirty few circuits to get it running to move it...etc.

Im going to start by downloading the TMs.

Ouch it got the super axe whacker treatment. I say forget trying to sort out the whacked harnesses, get take outs FROM A 1998 to 2000 model truck. He's missing all the transmission control keypad and brainbox, which is all integrated in the harnesses. You could easily get the engine cranked, but the Allison will be dead as a doornail.

Buy a second scrapper truck AFTER we help you determine if yours had a wtech II or III trany controller so you can swap the next purchase's parts

MY 98 1079 is a WTEC II.

What the others said! The trans controller and VIM are missing, that truck isn’t going anywhere unless towed/trailered. Your friend bought an ass pocket full of work...
Buy another one and make this your parts truck?

And the transmission Vehicle Interface Module? You can see where its harness was cutoff under the passenger dash in the top right corner of pic 4...

Yeah, he realizes that now. He says there was a pic from the sale that showed the word "running" in grease pencil on the cab front. When he got it, it said "not running". They conveniently cropped that out of the pic.

The rest of the truck seemed complete

Quite a few parts trucks out there. If everything else on the truck looks good, I would not buy an entire truck to get harnesses that will fit in a large flat rate box (maybe?). Just keep in mind that it's always a possibility that this truck was brutalized because there was something hideously wrong with the engine or transmission.

Check her out close..... could well be the reason they pulled so many parts off the truck is cause something else is potentially massively knackered thus why it was stripped of parts to replace weak points on other trucks.

Were those installed on the truck? If you have a 3070 tranny then your all good if those parts work. On the drivers side of the tranny is a plate with numbers on it. I had to stick my cellphone up in there to take pics to read it. It will say 3070 in the numbers.... if it does your a match. That puts you much closer.

Studying the driver's instrument cluster photo, the harness coming from the transmission with the colored wires branches into two as is required for the WTEC II ECU. I think you have the right one.

Looks like they gave him a hodgepodge of various parts... that was kind of them.
Yes. That's what he got with it, That tub of stuff that has close shapes.

I take it that the A0 dash is green and the A1 dash is black?

Ill dig into finding the trans numbers, too.
