hi guys

So i finally got my humvee 1097a2. Euc took 4 weeks. Very lucky. Got most of mechanical issues resolved. I want to convert it to 4 man hardtop. I noticed that my b pillar is slightly taller then a pillar and i have been reading that i cannot use the soft top c pillar (on order) on a hard top. And cannot use the b pillar as is. I was looking at the surplus hardtop that are for slant humvees. I dont want a slant. I will be using an iron curtain. What do i need to make this work and is it possible to use the slant hard top with this application. Oh btw i have 4 surplus x doors. Any input would be appreciated

Thanks

Couple different ways you can go on this but I am making my own fiberglass hardtop and cut the B pillar down: lay a 6’ level across like photo, measure gap at the A pillar and since the b pillar is almost in the center of A and C, you divide gap /2 and that’s how much I cut off the B pillar. Slide it back into place and use the holes in the B pillar as a template. Mark, remove and drill a pilot hole a little undersized. Put back in place and drill final diameter using B pillar as guide. Then bolt it back in.

if you intend to Re-use the grab rail you will have to install a new nutsert to mount to B pillar.

grab rail screws to C, B and A pillar. It’s tan in the photo (maybe looks dark). I have a standard C pillar for a soft top. I left it in place when taking the gap measurement to Maintain the location of the C pillar. If you are looking at some of the aftermarket hardtops that grab Rail is removed. But I’m not completely familiar with all the hard top aftermarket options. I’m making my own top and will leave the grab rail in place.
