2 output shaft PTO

So I have a pretty conventional M35A2 w/W that has a double output shaft PTO on the transmission. Obviously, the front PTO shaft and main control lever power the front mounted Winch. I was looking at the underside of the truck the other day when I was running some extra wires for my electric brake system and was pondering how to use the rear-facing shaft. Clearly it'll clear the existing control lever as that has a nice J'shape to it. What about everything else? :?

And where to put the accessory. I've thought about a rear facing winch for double work and I've thought about a Hydraulic pump and then adding other components to that (a rear facing winch, small crane, etc). Question is I'm not sure if the shaft would clear everything under there. Anyone have any ideas? If I were to mount a gear pump for the hydraulic system, where to mount it? Aft of the air tanks?

Also, how's that second control handle mounted? on the same shaft as the first or somewhere else?

Ahh, so you don't even go past the spare tire with the PTO shaft. What pump is that and what did you use for mounting kit? That' seems rather elegant for an installation. Any interference issues?

Gerhard's conversion. It's nice and compact. No need to relocate the spare tire and the hydraulic pump looks like it fits right in there, even with a larger tire that he has (super single in an XL tread). That I like. Question is, Gerhard, what control linkage do you use for your PTO on the second output shaft?

Frankly, I'd like to have a PTO driven pump that I can run a smaller rear mounted hydraulic winch with and/or a dump function.

Ryan, check under Deuce mods. & hot rodding, 2 pages back, there is a tread "dump conversion" where I posted some more pics and description. If you are interested, I could take some more pics of the linkage and also send you the specs of the pump.

And for somebody that wants a dump. but doesn't have a pto, use a 24 volt pump off of a forklift. I did on my 62 Studebaker M35A1 and it worked good. With an electric solenoid valve to lower it.

My rear PTO is on the T-case. I have a single out tranny PTO for the 20K Garwood up front. The rear T-case PTO is presently spinning the pump for the crane and will soon be sharing duty for the drive for the rear 20K Garwood.

After my visit to Wayne Harris in GA a couple of weeks ago, I have ended up with, possibly the most useless piece of MV surplus, an M88 recovery vehicle 60K lb hydraulic winch level winder. I erroneously thought it may have been a very big hydraulic motor. aua
Anyway here it is, the polished rod is 36 inches long and the white body moves back and forth on it. This boat anchor weighs about 300 lb.
If somebody has a use for it, let me know.

Crazy Matt, the answer is yes. The PTOs from the older deuces will work on curent M44A2 series stuff without a doubt.

Now that I got my rear winch clutch working I'll be starting on the drive again soon! It's always a lot of fun to figure out where you can get away with a shaft here or a set of sprockets and a chain there...
